Broughton Hall Wedding Photography | Biba & Matt
Broughton Hall Wedding Photography Skipton. And just like that I have another favourite venue to add to my growing list! Broughton Hall Estate actually has three gorgeous wedding venues – Utopia, Eden and the main house itself.
Biba & Matt were married at Broughton Church and then headed back down to Broughton Hall for drinks in the orangery (yes, an orangery!), and a marquee reception in the gardens. Sadly I was only allowed to take a couple of photographs from the back of the church once Biba had reached the top of the aisle, though I was happy that I could get some shots of her and her dad walking down towards Matt. After the ceremony Biba & Matt said a quick hello to everyone and then excited in a shower of confetti. At least that was the plan, the wind had others ideas and blew Biba’s veil into the crowds where the end got wrapped around some of her guests. It might not have been the most elegant exit but it did make for my favourite confetti shots to date! 😉
The weather got worse from then, with showers all afternoon and heavy rain once we were in the marquee. Fortunately we were spoilt for choice with indoor photo locations at Broughton Hall, and made good use of the entrance, reception rooms and of course the orangery (much to Matt’s disgust! You’ll see if you keep scrolling, he would happily have been done after two photos! Ha, not likely!)
The marquee looked beautiful. Leafy Couture (one of my faves!) had decked the tables out with in gold painted wine bottles and vases of all shapes and sizes full of beautiful flowers, succulents and foliage in shades of green, white, dusty pink and purple. They went perfectly with the gorgeous bouquets (also by Sarah from Leafy) which were made from the same combination of lisianthus, stocks, lady’s mantle, thistles, veronica, astilbe, eucalyptus, wax flower and succulents, hand tied with silk ribbon. Easily some of the most beautiful bouquets I’ve ever seen!
Speeches were after the meal (plus a few more drinks to kick the nerves), and then the rain cranked up a notch just in time for the cake cutting and world’s shortest first dance haha! Not keen on a public slow dance, Biba & Matt quickly beckoned to everyone to join them on the dance floor, and they chose their guests well as most of the marquee was happy to oblige and pulled out some serious moves! They had hired Marc and Abi Band through Jonny Ross Music – I’ve seen them a few times now and they’re really talented and great at getting people involved. I highly recommend them if you’re looking for evening entertainment!
There was a break in the rain after a few songs, so I quickly grabbed the happy couple and amazingly managed to convince them (or rather, Matt!) to come outside for a couple more photos in the gardens. I’d like to believe that my winning smile and stellar personality won him over in the end, but more likely it was down to a handful of beers 😀
Thank you Biba & Matt for asking me to capture your wedding day. Matt, I hope it wasn’t too painful! 😀 Here are my favourites x
