Carlton Towers Wedding Photography | Natasha & Matt
Carlton Towers Wedding Photography. This was my first wedding at the magnificent Carlton Towers and to say I was excited was an understatement! If Hogwarts and Downton Abbey had a baby building, this would be it! It’s absolutely incredible inside and out, with endless options for photographs in all weathers.
Natasha & her bridesmaids got ready at her parent’s home in Harrogate, and preparations were well under way when I arrived. With hair and make up for 5 bridesmaids and one bride to get through, the fab Jenn Edwards and her team had their work cut out! Everyone was gathered in the conservatory which was filled with noise and laughter! I took Natasha’s gorgeous Justin Alexander gown upstairs to photograph it and some other details away from the chaos! The beautiful bouquets were created by Lilou Fleur in Harrogate and were filled with pale-pink sweet avalanche roses, memory lanes, stocks and eucalyptus. I then re-joined the bridal party madness to get some shots of hair and make up prep in progress, and then it was time for Natasha to get dressed.
Yet again things were a bit behind schedule so I jumped into my trusty Beetle and made the journey down to Carlton Towers ready to say a quick “hi!” to Matt and to catch Natasha arriving and making her way up the amazing staircase to the Venetian Drawing Room for the ceremony. This room is a fabulous setting for a wedding ceremony, from the huge chandelier to the opulent gold wallpaper. Plus the big windows let in lots of lovely light. The only slight problem was the creaky floorboards – I’m not known for my delicate, light-footed movements haha! 😀
After the ceremony Natasha & Matt actually chose to head out for a drive around the local countryside. I thought this was a lovely idea as it let the new Mr & Mrs spend a little time alone together (plus the driver!) – alone time is a rare thing on a wedding day! Whilst they were gone everyone else piled out onto the staircase ready for a confetti throw when they got back and then we got started on the family photos. I let Natasha & Matt have a bit of a breather then and chat to their friends and family for a while, and I headed inside to get some photographs of everything set up for the wedding breakfast in the Picture Gallery.
The chandelier centrepieces were full of cream and pale pink flowers by All Occasions Florist which complimented the bouquets and bridesmaids dresses perfectly. Their beautiful cake was made by Piece of Cake in Harrogate, and was decorated with a hand-iced lace pattern to match Natasha’s gown, with sugar paste roses and fresh gypsophila. I then went back out to drag the newlyweds away from their guests for a while, for a few relaxed, intimate portraits in the grounds.
Speeches were before the meal, and then it was time for me to leave everyone to eat in peace! Time seemed to fly by and it was soon party o’clock. I captured Natasha & Matt’s first dance back in the Venetian Room and was on my way!
Enormous thank you to Natasha & Matt for asking me to photograph their wedding at Carlton Towers – another one ticked off my bucket list, and I’m very honoured to now be a recommended supplier at this incredible venue! x
