Harrogate Wedding Photographer | Lucy & Tom

Harrogate Wedding Photographer. Lucy & Tom were married in Pannal Church followed by a marquee reception at Lucy’s family home outside Harrogate. I met up with Lucy and her lovely bridesmaids at her parent’s house, when the sun was shining and the skies were blue. However I’d checked ahead and the forecast was not looking good, so I got there a little early to make sure I could capture the marquee in all it’s glory, as I suspected it would be full of people hiding from the rain as soon as the reception started (and I was right!). It was absolutely full of flowers thanks to Lucy’s grandma (a florist, very handy to have in the family!), and they’d even brought some silver birch trees inside which looked fab.

The house was full of noise and chatter when I arrived (just how I like it!), and it was lovely to spend a couple of hours in such a relaxed atmosphere, with everyone surprisingly unstressed and just having really a great time! Lucy and Tom had also booked a Marryoke wedding video of the day. If you’ve never come across it before, in Marryoke you’re basically the stars of your own music video, which features highlights from the day and lots of clips of you and your guests miming your chosen song (these guys went for “You’re The One That I want” from Grease). It’s not for the meek! It was a new one for me and I wasn’t sure what to expect, but it ended up being a great way to loosen people up and to provide something to do when nerves were kicking in!

As always I had sorted a schedule ahead of the day, and Lucy and Tom wanted to make sure I could get to the church in plenty of time to get some shots of it all set up, and to see Tom etc and all the guests arriving. So Lucy was ready nice and early and I left her to relax with a glass of champagne.

The rain had started by the time she arrived at the church, not that it dampened her smile at all – this girl has a 1000W smile! After the very touching and personal ceremony Lucy and Tom said a quick “hello” to everyone inside the church, and then made their confetti exit once the rain had eased off. They left in Lucy’s parent’s vintage Jaguar and took a quick spin around the Harrogate countryside whilst everyone else made their way to the reception by bus.

The temperature wasn’t exactly seasonal for August (or maybe it was, this is England after all!), so as I expected everyone headed straight for the marquee and a drink or two whilst they waited for the happy couple to arrive. It was predicted to get even wetter and colder in the following hour, so I quickly grabbed Lucy and Tom and headed out into the gardens for some relaxed and romantic portraits. Plus a few fun ones thanks to the Marryoke – Lucy and Tom really went for it, I have never seen such expert miming 😀 We managed a few group photos before the heaven’s really opened, and then headed back into the marquee to finish of the list! Then it was time for everyone to grab a seat for the wedding breakfast.

Speeches were after the meal, and full marks to all the speakers – they were all hilarious. Since the ceremony had taken place late afternoon, we were well into the evening by the time it came to the speeches so cake and dancing followed straight after. The cake cutting was only a partial success (apparently it’s hard to cut sponge with the family sword, who knew?!). The dance floor had been screened off so that Lucy & Tom could kick off the evening reception with a bit of an entrance, and they executed a sensational first dance! This group really knew how to party, and I was happy to see the dance floor fill up straight away –  mega shapes were thrown 😀 x
