Inn at South Stainley Wedding | Lucy & Tim.
Inn at South Stainley Wedding. The Inn at South Stainley is a lovely, cosy pub on the A61 that I must have driven past hundreds of times but never been inside.
The sky was looking a bit gloomy when I arrived but by the time I left for the church the sun was shining and I once again found myself in too many layers – got to love Britain in the spring!
The morning was very relaxed, with Lucy getting her hair and make-up done quite early on and then keeping herself busy setting everything up for later on. So I suppose she wasn’t that relaxed hahaha! Things soon got a bit more hectic once her sister arrived with her two gorgeous boys, Noah & Jude. Jude didn’t seem that impressed with me but Noah and I soon struck up a tight bond and I found myself covered in Lego and PJ Masks stickers! Which I later realised I was dropping all over the church path. I did also do some work and once I’d captured Lucy getting into her dress I walked down the road to the church.
I arrived in time to get a few shots of the building and of Tim greeting everyone and then nipped out to the road to wait for Lucy. I also introduced myself to their wonderful vicar who was happy for me to stand at the front during the ceremony – whoop!
The ceremony was lovely – always nice when the vicar fills the sermon with stories about the couple, makes it so much more personal. I think everyone was very impressed with Lucy for keeping it together and not blubbing down the aisle! Actually it was Tim who had a bit of a wobble, though I’m sure he’s still denying it!
After the ceremony Lucy and Tim walked back up the aisle and outside to where Tim had organised a surprise visit from a Llama (Tony) and an Alpaca (Gary). Safe to say Lucy was pretty stunned; like me she has a love of furry creatures (insert joke about Tim here haha!).
We organised a quick confetti tunnel down the church path (once we’d pulled people away from Tony & Gary!) and then everyone made their way back to the Inn for drinks in the garden. We had loads of time then so I let Lucy & Tim grab a drink and some canapés, and say a proper hello to Tony & Gary.
We whipped through their group photo list and of course a few with Tony & Gary and then I headed in to get a few detail shots. The it was time for the shots of Lucy & Tim – the bit that all couples seem to dread but end up enjoying because it’s often the only time they get alone together! We decided to walk back along the lane to the church since it was such a pretty spot and away from the crowds. And I’d spotted a weeping willow which I LOVE! Despite a few nerves Lucy & Tim were total naturals together and we got lots of lovely shots before walking back for the wedding breakfast. Side note – always check for nettles before you squat in some long grass – glad I’d made a last minute swap to trousers that morning 😀
I walked ahead of Lucy & Tim to give them a chance to talk some more, and once we were back it was time to head inside for the speeches. Always a nerve-wracking time. Except for the odd weirdo who actually enjoys public speaking of course! They were all fab but I think the speakers were relieved to get them out of the way so that they could enjoy the rest of the day! Perfectly timed as well as the rain started not long after the starters were served.
We had a nice break then for the meal and for drinks in the bar whilst the room was readied for the evening reception. No cake cutting this time so we went straight into the first dance. I stayed for a few songs to capture some mad dancing and then made my way home.
Thank you Lucy & Tim for trusting me to capture your wedding! If you’re looking for a photographer for your wedding at the Inn at South Stainley please do contact me! x
