Lowther Hotel Wedding Photography | Harriet & Rik.
Lowther Hotel Wedding Photography. I first met Harriet & Rik in Leeds about 15months before their wedding. As always when the big day came around it felt like no time at all!
I’d made a last minute decision to stay overnight nearby the night before the wedding (I don’t trust the M62 on a Saturday!) and merrily booked myself into the nearest Travelodge (always the glamorous life!), until Harriet and Rik found out and insisted I stay in The Lowther Hotel where they were getting married (and owned by Rik’s family!). I was SO grateful – it was well beyond Travelodge standards! 😀
I woke from a fabulous night’s rest and only had to pack my case and walk a few doors down the corridor to where Harriet and her bridesmaids were getting ready. Hair and make up were well underway when I arrived, and Harriet even managed a few work emails – no such thing as a day off for the self employed!
I nipped to see Rik and the guys for a few pre-ceremony photos of them and Harriet & Rik’s gorgeous little boy Oliver. Then it was time to see Harriet get into her amazing Nicole Spose gown (I LOVE that train!) and fir her dad to pop in and see her all ready to go!
I headed down to the ceremony room and managed to grab some shots of Harriet making her way down the staircase before taking my place at the front of the room. Harriet and Rik had written their own vows which were beautiful, and had everyone drying their eyes by the end. Except maybe Oliver who clearly thought Rik’s boutonniere was far more interesting!
After they signed the register Harriet and Rik walked back up the aisle in a flurry of confetti and and walked outside in to the corridor to greet everyone.
Once they were all out another confetti bombing was organised along the corridor and down the stairs, and Harriet & Rik led the way out to the Coach House for the drinks reception. I let them have a bit of a break whilst the canapés were served, and then we dragged Harriet & Rik’s immediate families and the bridal party outside for a few (chilly!) group photos!.
The weather was lovely (for winter!) with clear skies and soft sunshine, so Harriet, Rik and I then wandered out to the front of the hotel for some photos of the two of them. I’d spotted a couple of cool garage doors down a side street so we nipped down there as well before Oliver cam down and pulled us back to the party!
I nipped upstairs to get some detail shots of the wedding breakfast set up, and before long everyone was being called in for dinner. I left them all alone to eat and was even given a lactose-free meal of my own – THANK YOU!
Speeches were after the meal and then we had a bit of a break before the evening reception back in the main hotel. I grabbed a few shots of Harriet and Rik under the festoon lights in the courtyard and then we went in for the real party to start!
Huge thank to Harriet and Rik for asking me to photograph your wedding, and for being such generous hosts!
