Sandburn Hall Wedding Photography | Olivia & Jamie

Sandburn Hall Wedding Photography. What a brilliant pair these two are! It had been a few weeks since my last wedding and I was itching to get back to it! Olivia & Jamie got married in mid October but you wouldn’t know it from the weather. It was about 19 degrees, and I was WAY over dressed!

Olivia and her bridesmaids were getting ready at Burn Hall Hotel outside York, and I spent a lovely couple of hours there with them whilst everyone was getting ready. Olivia’s Willowby by Watters gown was a dream, as were the gorgeous bouquets by Wards of York – I loved all the textures and autumn colours. Oh and their little flower girl was heaven – she was so excited, and looked so gorgeous with her little top knot hair do!

Once Olivia was dressed we had time for a couple of photos and then I made my way to Sandburn Hall where they were having the ceremony and reception. It was my first time at Sandburn and I absolutely love it! The room upstairs where the ceremony and wedding breakfast are held is huge with amazing beams and so much lovely natural light. I coaxed Jamie and his best man outside for a couple of photos before heading in for a few candids of the wedding guests and then it was time to head up for the ceremony.

I waited outside to capture Olivia and her bridesmaids arriving and then followed everyone up to get in place for her walk down the aisle. It was a lovely relaxed and joyful ceremony, and I had loads of space to move around which is unusual! After the “I Do’s” we all made our way down to the bar where Olivia and Jamie stopped to say hello to a few people, and then headed outside for drinks and a few group photos. We decided to dive straight into the shots of Olivia & Jamie after that so that they had a big chunk of time afterwards to chat to people and have a bit of a break. So the three of us wandered over to the gardens – there were still a few golfers about so we stuck close to the building for these photos and headed out again later when it was safe!

I left them to wander back to the main building alone (quiet moments for the bride and groom are a rare thing at a wedding!) and spent the rest of the drinks reception performing my usual ninja routine trying to capture people unawares 😀 Once the room was changed around for the wedding breakfast I got loads of detail shots before the receiving line started. There are very mixed opinions on receiving lines! If they’re in a good light and with plenty of space either side like this one I actually quite like them – you’re always guaranteed great reactions!

Speeches were after the meal, and in between I grabbed Olivia & Jamie for some photos further afield now that the golfers had gone, and before the sun disappeared! Another break after the speeches and the room was transformed again ready for the evening reception. After the first dance I was very happy to see a crowded dance floor and hung around for some of the action before leaving them to party the night away!

Big big thank you to Olivia & Jamie for asking me ot be their wedding photographer, it was an absolute pleasure!

I live near Ilkley with my slightly* nutty 9 year old Rose, and I have had the honour of photographing weddings and families for 11 years now. I genuinely cannot believe how lucky I am that I get to call this my job.

*she once told me that traffic lights are the bane of her life, and she went through a phase of naming everything "Cantameen". Send help!

I love photographing people. Whether it's your wedding day, you're expecting or have just had a baby, or you simply want to capture your loved ones the way they are right now, my aim is to document unique moments in time to create a beautiful set of images that you will treasure for many years to come. My style combines photojournalism with beautiful portraits, and my fun and relaxed approach makes you feel comfortable and at ease in front of the camera – I want you to actually enjoy having your photograph taken!

Although I’m based near Ilkley I cover all of Yorkshire and I’m actually happy to travel anywhere for weddings and portrait shoots. So if you have any questions then please get in touch using one of my contact forms. In the meantime, grab a cuppa and browse through my wedding or portrait galleries, or take a look at my most recent work on the blog.

I can't wait to hear from you x
