The Hawkhills Wedding Photography | Miriam + Simon.

The Hawkhills Wedding Photography. Miriam and Simon were married on a (mostly!) bright but fairly chilly Saturday at the end of August. There were a few showers throughout the day but we were pretty lucky and even managed speeches outside on the lawn.

I joined Miriam and her bridesmaids and family at The Hawkhills in Easingwold where she was getting ready in their fab bridal suite and dressing room. Miriam greatly impressed me by doing her own hair (I’m still not quite sure how!), and having it done by the time that I arrived. Her bridesmaid Jenny was on makeup duty so I spent my time nipping back and forth between the rooms, capturing Miriam’s dress and other details in the bridal suite, then make up prep in the dressing room.

Soon it was time for Miriam to get dressed with the help of her sister Lois and then we let the other girls (and mum!) in to see her all ready to go (minus veil!, which bridesmaid Jenny was in charge of!). Once the veil was in we let her lovely dad in to see the finished masterpiece! He was completely overwhelmed and it was such a wonderful moment to be a part of. We got a few shots on the staircase and then I headed off to St Paul’s Church in Holgate just outside York City Centre for the ceremony. We were running a touch behind (standard for bridal prep! ) so I just had time to chat to the vicar and say hi to Simon before Miriam arrived (in the drizzle!).

The ceremony was really personal to Miriam and Simon as they knew both the vicar who married them and the pastor who gave the sermon. They walked back up the aisle as husband and wife with the hugest smiles on their faces, and then came back down again so that I could get a big group shot of everyone from the (very narrow!) balcony above.

The church was absolutely overflowing with Miriam and Simon’s friends and family, and everyone hung around to say hi and enjoy some drinks and snacks before I whisked the happy couple off to The Hawkhills. We arrived before everyone else so that we could get lots of lovely shots of Miriam and Simon in the gardens and Walled Orchard. It had turned into a gloriously sunny afternoon and I left Miriam and Simon to spend a bit of time alone together whilst I went to check on the progress of the guests’ arrival and the confetti coordination! People were still arriving so I snuck into the White and Oak Rooms to grab some detail shots of the many MANY tables set up for the wedding breakfast!

I headed back outside in time to see Toastmaster Kevin assemble everyone for confetti. Miriam and Simon snuck through the building and out onto the red carpet where everyone was waiting to bomb them with petals! We launched straight into the group photos then as there were a few big ones to get through, leaving some time to relax in the afternoon sun before dinner was announced.

After their meal it was speech time which took place outside on the lawn. I love outdoor speeches – lots of lovely light and space to move! All three speeches had everyone in stitches. Before long it was time for the cake to be cut and the first dance to be danced. This was followed by a ceilidh which loads of people joined in for and made for some great photos.

Thank you Miriam and Simon for sharing your wedding day with me! And if you are looking for a photographer for your wedding at The Hawkhills then please do contact me! x

*I say slightly, she recently told me that traffic lights are the bane of her life, and she names everything "Cantameen". Send help!

I love photographing people. Whether it's your wedding day, you're expecting or have just had a baby, or you simply want to capture your loved ones the way they are right now, my aim is to document unique moments in time to create a beautiful set of images that you will treasure for many years to come.
