The Normans Wedding Photography | Jaimie & Jez.

The Normans Wedding Photography.

Time has passed so quickly since I first met Jaimie & Jez on a chilly March evening in Leeds City Centre! This was my first wedding at The Normans and I was excited to see it all set up wit the new tables I’d been hearing so much bout from Jaimie & Jez!

It was bright and sunny (if a bit cool!) when I arrived at Jaimie & Jez’s house where she and her parents and bridesmaids were getting ready. Jenn Edwards & co were on hair and make up duties for all the girls and they’re always lovely to work with. Jenn was on hair and Helen on make up and we spent. Really chilled couple of hours chatting and laughing (and eating – thanks Jaimie!). I also took a lot of photos, obvs ;-D We were joined by videographer Lara Elliott who was a joy to work with!

As always we seemed to have loads of time, (hair and make up were even finished early!), until suddenly we didn’t and it was time for Jaimie to get dressed.

Meanwhile my lovely second shooter Lissa met up with Jez & the guys plus Jez’s adorable son Archie (who is him in miniature!) at the church just around the corner for some shots of them al before the guests arrived.

Once Jaimie was ready and her dad came up to see her looking distinctly average (sorry, in-joke!), I made my way to the church to join up with Lissa and wait for Jaimie & the girls to arrive.

Alas we were only allowed to photograph the ceremony from the front of the church, but I did get some lovely shots of Jaimie walking down the aisle towards Jez from on the balcony above the altar. Accessed via a precarious 14th century (I’m just guessing!) spiral staircase!

After the ceremony Jaimie and Jez headed back up the aisle as husband and wife and waited outside to greet their friends and family. This is one of my favourite things about a church wedding actually, you don’t always get this kind of impromptu receiving line after a civil ceremony which is a shame because it makes for some of the best candid shots!

The guests then made their way to the coaches which were waiting to take them to The Normans. Lissa followed on and I hung back with Jaimie and Jez to get some shots of the two f them in the church grounds. Unusually we weren’t on a tight schedule (they weren’t eating until 6pm and it was barely after 3pm!) so we could take our time a bit, and then I headed off to The Normans to wait for them to arrive.

The arrived about 15 minutes behind me and after a few shots with the car (Jez chose well!) and a quick confetti blast we cracked on wit the “formal”photos. And there were a few!So many in fact that Jaimie made an executive decision eventually and cut a few shots off the list! Got to love a decisive bride!

Jaimie & Jez were well in need of a break by then so I left them to enjoy the amazing canapés by The Hog and Apple whilst Lissa and I went into the barn to capture the wedding breakfast set up. The barn looked amazing with all the candles lit and fairy lights twinkling overhead and behind the top table. And the new tables covered in foliage by Kate Mell and hanging tea lights were perfect.

Back outside there was time for a few more candid shots of everyone enjoying drinks and canapés, before speeches were announced. I held back with Jaimie & Jez whilst everyone found their seats and we got a few shots of them around the barn now that it was empty!

Jaimie & Jez then made their entrance and we went straight into the speeches. Again they were all hilarious with Jaimie and Jez being mocked pretty equally I think! There was also some fairly colourful language which I’m sure little Archie was logging in his memory bank to bring out in the future at the most embarrassing moment, despite his look of causal disinterest! 😀

Food was finally served, and it was incredible! The Hog and Apple are amazing caterers so if you’re still on the hunt I highly recommend them – my vegan meal was HEAVEN! and the rest looked pretty good too.

The sun was setting as Jaimie & Jez were finishing their main course and the light was looking pretty incredible so we took our opportunity to walk out into the fields over the road and got some amazing shots of them in the golden sun – my favourite kind!

Then it was back inside for dessert and then the first dance. Jaimie also managed to change her hair and make up and took off her lace jacket for the evening reception. This crowd really knew how to party and the dance floor was packed± I knew Jaimie was keen to get some more photos now that she’d changed so after a few songs I grabbed them (& my flash gear!) and we spent 10 minutes in the barns getting some cool shots (at least I think so, haha!) in a few different spots that I’d had in mind since my visit a few months before!

And that was it! I left them to party and made my way home! Huge thank you J&J for trusting me to capture your amazing wedding day! If you’re looking for a photographer at your wedding at The Normans please do get in touch!
