Tithe Barn Bolton Abbey Wedding | Alice + Jonny

Tithe Barn Bolton Abbey Wedding. My first wedding in April saw me back at The Tithe Barn for Alice and Jonny’s beautiful spring wedding. I joined Alice and her bride squad at The Hotel Du Vin in Harrogate where they were all getting ready together in one of the gorgeous suites. Jonny’s sister Sam was starting Alice’s make up when I arrived so I started with all of the lovely details of Alice’s shoes, jewellery and amazing Watters Wtoo gown from Adele Howarth-Winstanley Bridal which I am in LOVE with!

I spent the next couple of hours bobbing between the two halves of the suite whilst Alice & the girls switched between hair and make up stations! Finally it was time for Alice to get dressed, and she looked incredible! We were a little behind schedule (as per!) so I waited to grab a shot of Alice’s dad seeing her all ready to go and then I made my way to the barn. It was bright but chilly when I arrived so everyone was inside warming up whilst Jonny chatted to the registrar. I got a couple of shots of him and best man Dan and then let them say some hello’s before everyone was seated for the ceremony.

I waited for Alice and co to arrive in a VW camper (my favourite!) and all seemed to be going to pan, until the BBQ got a bit over-excited and the smoke set off the fire alarms. Not quite the wedding march and it didn’t set the right tone so we waited it out whilst the nerves an tension increased!I was on the brink of breaking the tension with my mum’s favourite pie joke (it’s a corker!) when the alarms stopped and it was on with the show!

The ceremony went off with only a couple of wobbles – Jonny mixing his lines and me cracking my head on the candelabra. Again! 😀

After the “I do’s” Alice and Jonny walked back up the aisle to great applause and headed outside for a few minutes together. Meanwhile we organised the confetti ready to bomb them when they came back through to the garden. We did a quick couple of family photos on the lawn and then took the bridesmaids and best man to the front of the barn for more photos in front of the doors and in the camper. We let Dan & the girls escape then and I kept hold of Alice and Jonny for a few photos of just the two of them.

I had time for a few detail shots of the barn ready for the wedding breakfast and then it was time to eat. Guests carved their meat themselves and each table had a dedicated “carver” with a comedy apron provided by Alice and Jonny. I’ve seen this a few times and it works really well to bring tables of people together if they don’t know each other!

After the food it was time for the speeches (side note – the food at The Tithe Barn is delicious! Even the vegan meal which can often be am afterthought rather than real food! The lettuce sandwich I was served once elsewhere springs to mind…). Despite some nerves all the speakers knocked it out of the park – Alice’s dad Alan is a bit of a legend and had everyone in stitches. Plus Jonny and best man Dan are teachers. High school teachers at that – I can’t imagine this crowd were more intimidating than a bunch of teenagers. but then I hated 13 year olds even when I was one!

The sun was setting as the speeches came to and end so I grabbed Alice and Jonny for a few more photos before it disappeared behind the hills and then we headed back in to get ready for cake and dancing!

Thank you so much to these two for trusting me to capture their beautiful wedding! Here are my favourites… x
