Wedding Photography Tithe Barn Bolton Abbey | Becci & Will
Wedding Photography Tithe Barn Bolton Abbey. My first ever Tuesday wedding! Becci & Will were married at St. John’s Church in Ben Rhydding followed by a reception at the epic Tithe Barn at Bolton Abbey. I started my day with Becci and her family and bridesmaids at Becci’s family home in Ilkley. It was lovely to see the gorgeous Emma again whose wedding I had photographed back in 2017.
Side note – I actually started my day at 5.15am when I was woken by my daughter who is firmly of the opinion that sleep is for losers. But 3 cups of coffee and some wedding morning adrenaline perked me right up!
There was a very relaxed and chilled out atmosphere when I arrived which lasted all morning – either that or they were all really good at hiding their nerves and were a hot mess on the inside!
The morning passed really quickly with me first kicking Becci’s dad and brother out of the living room so I could hang up Becci’s dress, and then bobbing up and down stairs capturing hair and makeup and so on until it was time to get Becci dressed. We let her dad and brother and his girlfriend in to see Becci all ready to go for the first time (Alaina’s reaction wins by the way!) and then I headed over to the church to see Will before the service.
I arrived in time to get a few shots of the church and say hi to Will before he was swamped by friends and family!
In a break from tradition Becci arrived 10 minutes early, s we had to hide her around the corner because she bet half of the friends there! Then I made my way to the front of the church to await Becci’s entrance. I love St John’s Church – it’s so light inside, plus the vicar Andrew is SO lovely! He happily let me shoot from the front of the church and he made the ceremony very personal for Will and Becci which I always love but don’t always see! After the service Becci & Will signed the register and then Will proudly held it over his head in triumph and the church exploded with cheers and clapping!
The weather forecast hadn’t been great earlier in the day (not that I obsessively check it or anything!) but the sun was shining when Becci & Will exited the church. We got a couple of family photos with their grandparents whilst the ushers handed out confetti and then Becci & Will were bombed down the path and jumped in the wedding car to head off to the barn.
The skies turned part way there, but we were really lucky and only actually suffered a couple of small showers all afternoon. I beat Becci & Will to the barn (they had to stop to put the car roof back on!) so I grabbed a few shots of the tables set up for dinner. When they arrived, we jumped straight into the rest of the family photos in the garden. Since we had a dry sell, and then I took them out to the front of the barn for some shots of the two of them (with no audience!). Apocalyptic clouds were gathering in the distance which actually looked pretty good!
There was time for some more detail shots in the barn and some candid ones of everyone enjoying drinks and canapés (inside, it rained again!) before everyone was seated for dinner.
Speeches were after the meal and were so funny, best man Lewis in particular had the barn ringing with laughter! They finished with a game of Mr & Mrs and then there was a brief gap after dinner where everyone relaxed around the bar with a fresh drink. Soon it was time for the cake to be cut and the first dance to be danced. Followed by some sensational shape throwing on the dance floor!
Thank you Becci & Will for trusting me to capture your wedding, and to Emma & Edd for recommending me! As always if you’re looking for a photographer for your wedding at the Tithe Barn then please do contact me! x
