Wood Hall Wedding Photographer | Jenny & Andrew

Wood Hall Wedding Photographer | Jenny & Andrew | A Spring Wedding At Wood Hall Hotel near Wetherby by Laura Calderwood Photography (49)

Wood Hall Wedding Photographer | Jenny & Andrew

I was so happy when Jenny and Andrew booked me as their Wood Hall wedding photographer; we had gotten on so well when we met just 5 months before their wedding, I knew we were going to have a great day! And I was excited to see Wood Hall in the springtime, surrounded by daffodils (I’ve mentioned my flower obsession, right? Just one or two times?!).

I met Jenny at her family home in Bardsey where she was getting ready with her parents and bridesmaids. It was lovely to see one of my favourite hair stylists Anna Stephenson again, and watch her work her magic! I also managed to pop over to the local pub (not for a Gin, alas!) to see Andrew calming his nerves with friends and family, before heading back to catch Jenny for a few final tweaks and of course getting into her dress (LOVE that bit!). There was just time for a few shots of everyone ready and then it was time for me to get to the church to introduce myself to the vicar (is it just my ears or does that sound like a euphemism to anyone else?! It’s not, just FYI!) and get in position to capture Jenny arriving. The parish church in Bardsey is beautiful, and we were there at the best time of year (in my opinion!) as the blossom trees were out! I knew Jenny wanted a photo of her and her dad under the blossom as it was a special place for them and a photo that she’d always wanted to have when she got married  – capturing little traditions like that are one of the many things that make my job so special.

After the ceremony we executed a very successful confetti bombing and were off to Wood Hall! I arrived a bit before Jenny and Andrew, and whisked them off around the grounds for some photographs together whilst the rest of the guests arrived and headed in for a drink! It was mid April so we only just caught the daffodils, but I loved how the bright yellow contracted with the blues in Jenny’s bouquet. We spent a little time walking on the lawns before heading for one of my favourite walls and then back up through the rose garden and inside to warm up. I left them to relax and have a drink for a bit whilst I got some shots of everything set up ahead of the wedding breakfast, and then it was time for me to be the mean lady who makes everyone go outside for family photos, hahaha! 😉

And like that it was time for the wedding breakfast and speeches – one of my favourite parts of the day! Normally most of the embarrassing stories centre around the groom, but Jenny’s sister did a speech as well so I’d say the humiliation was fairly equal this time! Once the speeches were finished the brilliant staff at Wood Hall quickly got the room ready for the evening reception and Jenny & Andrew’s first dance. Their first dance always sticks in my memory as they chose “Annie’s Song” by John Denver which has a special place in my heart – my mum used to sing it to me when I was little and now I sing it to my little girl (blub!). I should probably put “sing” in quote marks since my voice is questionable at best! 😀

Huge thank you to Jenny & Andrew for trusting me to capture their wedding, it was such a pleasure!

If you’re looking for a Wood Hall wedding photographer then please to get in touch! x
