Yorkshire Wedding Barn Photographer | Emma & Paul
Yorkshire Wedding Barn Photographer. Where to begin with this day?! I mean it was an absolute dream from start to finish.
This was my first wedding at The Yorkshire Wedding Barn and it quickly became one of my favourites. You get the whole place to yourself, and its’s set in acres of beautiful North Yorkshire Countryside. There are options for indoor and outdoor ceremonies, plus there’s a cornfield behind it – what more could you want really?!
I spent the morning with Emma and the girls in one of the pretty cottages on site, whilst my lovely second shooter for the day, Nathan, met the boys at one of the other cottages closer to the barn. We were also joined by videographer Simon Manning who I highly recommend!
Preparations were well underway when I arrived, with Lucy Smith in charge of make up and Nicola Luskiw on hair styling duties. I loved Emma’s stunning Essense of Australia gown which was hanging from the four poster bed – sometimes people just make it so easy for me! 😀 I also absolutely adored all of the gorgeous bouquets and buttonholes by the super talented Clarey at Manor Garden Flowers.
The weather had been a bit hit and miss during the previous week but I was happy that they chose to go ahead with an outdoor ceremony (albeit undercover, just in case!) and by the time the ceremony was finished the skies were clear and we were treated to some glorious sunshine.
As you can probably tell from the photo above, Emma & Paul were pretty happy about being married(!) and led their guests up on to the terrace for drinks and food, accompanied by great music courtesy of The Rolling Keys.
We whipped through some group photos and then I took Emma & Paul for a wander whilst Nathan hung back at the barn and captured some more candid shots of the guests (one of the benefits of having a second photographer, if you’re on the fence!).
We were spoiled for choice with photo locations, but decided to stay close to the barn at this point so that Emma & Paul could get back to enjoying the reception, and planned to head a bit further afield later in the evening. This pair were so great to photograph, I could’ve carried on for ages!
But I controlled myself and let them head back for another drink whilst I headed inside to get some detail shots of the barn which looked amazing again thanks to Manor Garden Flowers and also My Something Borrowed. Also make sure to check out their brilliant cake by It’s a Cake Thing.
Then it was on to the speeches, which were fantastic! Probably some of my favourites ever. Especially when Emma’s dad played a video of him singing “I Loved Her First” which, if you haven’t heard it, is a really touching song about a dad’s love for his little girl. I think everyone was in tears at that point (yep, including me!). It was also the first time I’ve seen butt plugs at a wedding, but I digress… Choose your best man wisely! 😀
After the meal everyone headed back out on to the terrace for more drinks and games, and I grabbed my chance to take Emma & Paul to the corn field behind the barn for more photos.
It wasn’t long before first dance time, and the party really started! As the sun went down the clouds turned an amazing shade of pink so I dashed out with Emma & Paul to get a couple more photos and then left everyone to boogie the night away.
