Hospitium Wedding York Museum Gardens | Rebekah & Ben.
Hospitium Wedding York Museum Gardens. My final wedding of three and it was another beauty! I was back at The Hospitium for Rebekah & Ben’s big day and whilst it wasn’t quite as sunny as it had been a couple of days before it was still warm and dry, and the storms held off until the evening.
I joined Rebekah and her bridesmaids and family at the cottage they were staying in just down the road from the Museum Gardens. I busied myself with Rebekah’s dress and other details whilst her make-up was in the early stages. Then I parked myself in a prime spot in the dining room window where most of the action was! It was a great spot actually – good light and almost everyone gathered around at one point or another to chat with Rebekah.
Once her hair and make-up were finished I snuck up to watch Rebekah’s poor brother Tom being dressed by his mum ad big sister – I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone less impressed by a suit, haha! Their little flower girl Izzy arrived soon after so Rebekah got her dressed and then it was time for Rebekah to get her gown on. I was very impressed with the speed at which her mum got through all of the buttons!
That was my cue to leave so I headed over to The Hospitium to get a few shots of the ceremony set up before everyone took their seats. Rebekah arrived in plenty of time and we all waited nervously (Ben!) for her to make her entrance. She even walked down the aisle solo – a brave woman!
It was a shot but very touching service and before long Rebekah and Ben were husband and wife and walked back up the aisle to grab a drink and say hi to their guests. Everyone grabbed a handful of confetti on their way out whilst Rebekah and be waited in the doorway. Then they exited in a huge confetti storm. We managed a quick shot of everyone and then drinks and canapés were served whilst we cracked on with the group photos.
Rebekah and Ben were keen to get some shots of the two of them in the abbey ruins in the Museum Gardens so we wandered up there for lots of lovely photos and a few more around the gardens. Luckily it was a cloudy day so there were far fewer picnickers than I was expecting!
We got back down to The Hospitium with loads of time to spare so I left them to spend some time with their friends and family whilst I went upstairs to capture the wedding breakfast set up. I loved that each table was named after a different flower – Rebekah is clearly as florally-obsessed as me!
I made my way back outside to get some candid shots of everyone enjoying the drinks reception. I like to think of this like being on safari – I stay back with a long lens so I don’t spook the most nervous guests (and grooms usually!). It was soon time for everyone to be called in for the wedding breakfast and I left them to enjoy their meal in peace!
The speeches followed the meal, with my favourite being the introduction from “MC” Paul (Ben’s dad). You’ll see why from the photos! The weather finally turned on us in the evening so everyone hibernated inside from the rain until the evening reception started. I stayed for the first dance and some of the dance floor action afterwards. Rebekah threw her bouquet and then I left them to party!
Thank you as always to Rebekah & Ben for trusting me to capture your wedding! If you’re planning a wedding at The Hospitium in York then please do contact me, I’d love to hear from you! x
