Timeless Elegant Wedding Photography at The Tithe Barn Bolton Abbey in Yorkshire

Wedding Photos Tithe Barn Bolton Abbey. Back at my favourite Yorkshire barn venue for the beautiful wedding of Megan & Kris!

Getting ready.

Megan got wedding ready at a lovely rental cottage not far from the barn called Meadowcroft. It’s a really handy location and a great house which is nice and bright and beautifully decorated – highly recommend if you need somewhere to get ready before your Tithe Barn wedding!

I spent a lovely couple of hours with Megan & her bridesmaids and mum, capturing them all having hair and make up finished off. I grabbed some detail shots of Megan’s gorgeous Alena Leena Bridal gown, and I loved her Badgley Mischka shoes and fab veil by The Veil Atelier. We were joined by the lovely Hannah Kennedy who was videographer for the day and great to work with.

Megan looked stunning and her make up by Jessy Crow was flawless! Once everyone was finished we had time for a quick “team bride” photo before the bridesmaids went upstairs to get dressed.

Meanwhile my lovely second shooter Lissa joined the guys at the barn for some shots of it all set up for the ceremony, and to see the boys attempt to don buttonholes! After a few group photos with groomsmen and Kris’s family the guests started to arrive. Back at Meadowcroft we captured Megan getting into her gown with help from her mum, and then brought the bridesmaids in to see the finished look. Safe to say they were impressed with what they saw! Her dad Chaz arrived then, in perfect time for some shots of him seeing her all ready to go as well. Such a lovely moment and one that never gets old!

Ceremony.

I made my way over to the Tithe Barn to meet up with Kris and the guys and wait for Megan to arrive. Guests were seated and Megan was dropped off and hidden away to see the registrar before the ceremony. I took my place at the top of the aisle, with Lissa capturing the ceremony from the back of the barn.

The gorgeous little flower girl and page boy made their entrance, followed by the bridesmaids and then Megan and her dad. I think we can say Kris was pretty overwhelmed when he saw Megan heading towards him, and it was very special to see. The ceremony went off with only a slight hitch when the two readers had the wrong readings on their seats (Kris’s one job haha!). But these little funny moments are part of the fun of the day and the rest of the ceremony went perfectly! Once Megan & Kris had signed their marriage document it was back up the aisle and on with the drinks reception! Amazingly it wasn’t raining so we managed to get everyone outside for a confetti bomb, and then drinks and canapés were served. The drizzle started up then and was on and off for a lot of the afternoon, but we managed to get the group photos done in the entrance to the barn and even got the bridal party ones done outside. I was expecting heavy rain all day so this was quite a win! We forged on with some shots of just Megan & Kris after this since the rain was still very light. They were bloody naturals and we got loads of great photos of them together around the front of the barn in quite a short time, meaning they could head back inside to chat to their friends and family. Lissa had been capturing some more informal, candid shots of the guests whilst I was doing all this, so I joined her with that and also got some photos of the barn now that it was set up for the wedding breakfast. Including their gorgeous cake made by a friend which was so impressive!

Speeches.

Soon it was time for everyone to take their seats for the wedding breakfast. Megan & Kris were announced in to huge cheers and waving of napkins, and the meal was served.

After dinner it was speech time, and they were fantastic. Megan’s dad, Kris and all THREE best men each said something and they were all hilarious, and had Kris’s mum in particular in tears!

Party time.

The evening guests arrived towards the end of the speeches and soon it was cake cutting time. Megan & Kris then took to the dance floor for their first dance to get the party started. They executed some excellent spins and even managed a lift! Then the dance floor filled and I got plenty of shots of people raving before leaving them to the rest of their night.

I just love a Tithe Barn wedding, it’s my favourite barn wedding venue in Yorkshire. Maybe anywhere! If you want to see more wedding photos at The Tithe Barn make sure to check out my Tithe Barn galleries, and then fill in my contact form so we can talk!

*she once told me that traffic lights are the bane of her life, and she went through a phase of naming everything "Cantameen". Send help!

I love photographing people. Whether it's your wedding day, you're expecting or have just had a baby, or you simply want to capture your loved ones the way they are right now, my aim is to document unique moments in time to create a beautiful set of images that you will treasure for many years to come.
