Maternity photography shoots take place either at your home or at an outdoor location of you choice - and we are spoilt for choice here in Yorkshire! Every session is different; sometimes it's just mum-to-be, others bring along dad and siblings to join in. It's totally up to you and how you want to document this stage of your life.
In terms of what to wear I recommend avoiding logos or recognisable cartoon characters, and lighter colours can help to brighten up the photos. If you want to roll your top up to capture your growing bump in all it's glory you're very welcome to! But equally there's no pressure to do so.

Pregnancy is an incredible thing. Understandably it can also be a very difficult thing, but every pregnancy is different. I was quite lucky with mine, if you exclude the extreme heartburn - I must have been responsible for 90% of Gavsicon's profits that year, I always had a bottle of it in my handbag to chug periodically!
I did miss my bump when it was gone though (not just because when she was inside me I couldn't hear her scream, ha. And oh boy did she scream!). So if you decide that a professional maternity shoot isn't for you, I would still encourage you to document your bump, even if it's just with your phone!
I recommend booking your maternity shoot in for when you're around 33-37 weeks pregnant - late enough that you've got a perfect bump but before the major bloating and discomfort of the last stages kicks in, hopefully!
Please take a look at my Maternity Photography Gallery for lots of examples from my maternity shoots. Packages start at £150, and you can visit my Portraits Pricing section to find out more.
Here you'll also find prices for booking multiple sessions to document your little one's first year which is something I love to do! Head over to my main Portrait Galleries to see loads of photos of the gorgeous little ones I've captured in recent years, and if you're interested don't forget to read more about what to expect from your newborn and older baby shoots.
If you would like to find out more or to book in a shoot please fill in the enquiry form.

Throwing it back to November `24, just to keep you on your toes!

EMMA & TOBY// I spent Saturday at Thicket Priory for this gorgeous wedding! Bright spring sunshine, daffodils everywhere, and a definite chill in the air. Earlier in the day we braved some pretty relentless wind for their photos on the lawn and down by the lake, but that all changed in the evening.
Golden hour arrived, the wind finally dropped, and we wandered down the daffodil-lined lane to the venue in the softest light — quiet, lovely moments in the middle of the wedding day madness.
These two are big Lord of the Rings fans, and Emma’s mum absolutely outdid herself — not only with the surprise of life-size cut-outs of the cast, quietly dotted around the venue during the wedding breakfast, but also a speech that came complete with props (and went down very well). And while their dog Evie couldn’t be there in person, she still made plenty of appearances in cut-out form 🐾
Add in seriously good food by Homegrown Hospitality, amazing florals by Mint & Moose, cake of dreams by Where the Ribbon Ends, pus lots of laughter, and a day that felt completely true to them — it was a real joy to photograph.
Congratulations Mr & Mrs W! More from this one coming soon ✨

It`s wedding day for R&J! Sorry, that was awful.
But it is! Can`t wait to catch up with them and be back at my all time fave, The Tithe Barn Bolton Abbey 👌 Happily it will be a few degrees warmer than it was for their frosty engagement shoot on Ilkley Moor 🥶
