Goldsborough Hall Winter Wedding | Shannon & Matt

Goldsborough Hall Winter Wedding — Shannon & Matt’s Elegant December Celebration

If you’re planning a Goldsborough Hall winter wedding, Shannon and Matt’s beautiful December day is the perfect inspiration. Set just days before Christmas at Goldsborough Hall, their celebration combined timeless black-tie elegance with a warm, family-focused atmosphere — and a dance floor that absolutely delivered by the evening.

From the start, the styling set the tone. Shannon chose classic black bridesmaid dresses for her ten bridesmaids, which looked effortlessly chic against the historic interiors of the venue. Matt and his twelve groomsmen (including the dads!) leaned fully into the black-tie dress code, creating that sophisticated, editorial feel that works so perfectly in a stately home setting.

A Personal Ceremony in the Princess Mary Drawing Room

Shannon & Matt chose a celebrant-led ceremony in the Princess Mary Drawing Room, which allowed them to create something truly personal. There were plenty of laughs mixed with emotional moments, and the intimate setting meant every guest felt part of the experience — something that often makes a Goldsborough Hall wedding feel so special.

One of the highlights came straight after the ceremony when their dog, Willow, joined us for photos. Including pets in wedding days always adds personality, and it gave Shannon and Matt a chance to step away together for a few relaxed moments (and some very cute portraits).

Winter Portraits at Goldsborough Hall

December weather in Yorkshire is never predictable — and this day was definitely cold and cloudy — but we managed to head outside for portraits between the wintery showers. The soft light actually worked beautifully, creating romantic, natural images with that cosy “wrap up close” energy you only really get in winter weddings.

Wedding Breakfast in the Orangery & Epic Speeches

The wedding breakfast took place in the Orangery, which felt warm and inviting despite the winter chill outside. Speeches were a perfect mix of heartfelt and hilarious, reflecting just how important family and friendships are to Shannon and Matt. You could really feel the history between everyone in the room — the kind of atmosphere that can’t be styled, only felt.

Then came one of the best transitions into party mode I’ve seen: a live singer kicked off immediately after speeches, and suddenly the entire room was on its feet.

Champagne Tower, Dancing & Sparkler Finale

The evening reception began with a champagne tower, followed by cake cutting and a packed dance floor that stayed busy all night. Shannon and Matt’s guests needed very little encouragement to celebrate.

We finished the evening outside with sparklers — the perfect winter ending to a joyful, elegant Goldsborough Hall wedding day.

Planning Your Own Goldsborough Hall Wedding

What makes weddings here so memorable isn’t just the stunning architecture or beautiful grounds — it’s how effortlessly the venue supports both intimate moments and big celebrations. Shannon and Matt’s day was full of connection, laughter, and genuine emotion, which is exactly what every couple hopes for.

I live near Ilkley with my slightly* nutty 9 year old Rose, and I have had the honour of photographing weddings and families for 11 years now. I genuinely cannot believe how lucky I am that I get to call this my job.

*she once told me that traffic lights are the bane of her life, and she went through a phase of naming everything "Cantameen". Send help!

I love photographing people. Whether it's your wedding day, you're expecting or have just had a baby, or you simply want to capture your loved ones the way they are right now, my aim is to document unique moments in time to create a beautiful set of images that you will treasure for many years to come. My style combines photojournalism with beautiful portraits, and my fun and relaxed approach makes you feel comfortable and at ease in front of the camera – I want you to actually enjoy having your photograph taken!

Although I’m based near Ilkley I cover all of Yorkshire and I’m actually happy to travel anywhere for weddings and portrait shoots. So if you have any questions then please get in touch using one of my contact forms. In the meantime, grab a cuppa and browse through my wedding or portrait galleries, or take a look at my most recent work on the blog.

I can't wait to hear from you x
