Howsham Hall Wedding Photographer – Chloe & Doug’s Late November Celebration at Howsham Hall
If you’ve ever wondered what a late-autumn wedding looks like when the last golden leaves are still clinging to the trees and Christmas décor is starting to sparkle inside, Chloe and Doug’s day was exactly that kind of magic. As a Howsham Hall wedding photographer, this celebration had everything I love — an intimate guest list, relaxed timelines, and a venue that feels like you’ve stepped into your own private country house for the weekend.
With around 40 of their favourite people, the whole day felt warm, personal, and full of genuine connection.
Getting Ready at Howsham Hall
One of the best things about weddings here is that everything happens in one place, which means no rushing around and loads more time for photos. Chloe got ready in the incredible bridal suite — honestly one of the most beautiful preparation spaces in Yorkshire. It’s huge, filled with natural light, and has that elegant-but-comfortable vibe that photographs beautifully without feeling staged.
Meanwhile, I could pop over to Doug and his best man getting ready. The guys were in classic black tie, which suited the grandeur of the venue perfectly. We even snuck into the billiard room for some portraits before the ceremony — dark wood, moody light, and tuxedos are always a winning combo!
Ceremony, Staircase Moments & Sunset Portraits
After a heartfelt ceremony, Chloe and Doug took a little time together while guests gathered for drinks around the iconic main staircase. Then came one of the standout moments of the day — their grand entrance down the stairs as newlyweds. It felt cinematic and completely suited the atmosphere of the hall.
The November sun was already starting to dip during the drinks reception, so we made a quick dash outside for portraits. It was bright but properly chilly — the kind of cold that gives you rosy cheeks but gorgeous crisp light. The remaining autumn colour on the trees mixed with the stately backdrop of the house created the dreamiest setting.
Speeches, Sparklers & an Epic First Dance
After dinner came emotional speeches, cake cutting, and then a November wedding must — sparklers! Guests lined the courtyard, creating a glowing tunnel of light for Chloe and Doug to enter their evening reception. It was such a fun, high-energy transition into the party.
And the first dance? Absolutely excellent. We’re talking dips, lifts, confidence, and a couple completely in their moment. It set the tone for a packed dance floor all evening.
Why I Love Being a Howsham Hall Wedding Photographer
This venue really does have everything — stunning interiors, beautiful grounds, and a relaxed house-party atmosphere that works perfectly for smaller weddings. Chloe and Doug’s day was a perfect example of how intimate celebrations can still feel incredibly grand.
