Howsham Hall Wedding Photography | Sarah + Curt.

Howsham Hall Wedding Photography. Another new venue for me for Sarah & Curt’s wedding – the incredible Howsham Hall near Malton. Weddings here are coordinated and catered by Dine Events so I knew we were in good hands! Howsham Hall is such a beautiful building, inside and out. All of the rooms are beautifully decorated, the staircase is a beaut and the bridal suite is mahoosive! And so full of natural light; a dream to photograph in!

Sarah and her bridesmaids and family had just arrived when I got there so I started by capturing Sarah’s dress and other details in their amazing room for the night. I also kept an eye on Sarah’s make up progress and nipped over to get some shots of the finishing touches being made by Jade from The Makeup Works.

Since Curt and the boys were also getting ready at Howsham I was able to get some photos of them getting ready as well. Normally I’d wait for ties and cufflinks going on but since that looked set to happen at the same time as Sarah getting dressed we settled on “ironing in pants” instead – a first for me and not the worst morning of my life tbh! 😀 I don’t often get to capture the guys myself since I normally send my second shooter for that bit which is a shame because I enjoy listening in on the banter! Once shirts and ties were on I left the guys to head off to the church and rejoined Sarah and the bridesmaids who were about ready to get dressed.

Sarah looked amazing I her Justin Alexander gown, and her dad definitely agreed when we let him in to see her! I hurried off to the church to get in place for Sarah’s arrival. The church in Howsham is… adorable! There’s no other word for it really, it’s just the cutest little building! Sarah eventually made her grand arrival in a horse-drawn carriage which had been organised by Curt’s mum. Only my second one ever actually!

Under advice from the vicar I waited inside to capture Sarah walking towards Curt, and then made my way to the back for the rest if the service. Highlights for me were definitely Sarah and Curt’s youngest boy Charlie walking down the aisle in floods of tears, the multitasking ushers who controlled the music and fed a baby at the same time, and Charlie (again!) pulling Sarah and Curt’s hands apart at the end of the service so he could hold Sarah’s hand in Curt’s place!

Sarah and Curt were pronounced husband and wife to great cheers from the congregation and made their way back up the aisle and out into the sun. Everyone else followed after and loaded up with confetti to line the church path. Sarah and Curt were pelted as they walked down the path towards the waiting horse(s) and carriage. Even this wouldn’t get a smile out of little Charlie although his big brother was beaming the whole time!

We all made the short journey back to Howsham where guests were served with drinks on the lawn. Sarah and Curt had to take the on route around since the horse and carriage couldn’t make it over the cattle grid! Which worked out well because it meant I could capture their arrival and everybody was already there waiting to greet them.

We got a few pics with the horses who then had to leave as they were getting a bit overheated (ad they weren’t alone there!). We powered through the “formal” photos (minus Charlie!) and then I headed in to capture the wedding breakfast set up. We had plenty of time so I left Sarah and Curt to comfort their littlest (who so needed a nap, but will they ever nap when they need to?! Nope! Think he had a serious case of FOMO!).

Then it was time to grab them for a few shots of just the two of them around the grounds. It was super hot and sunny so I aimed for the shade and some more flattering light! Despite claiming extreme awkwardness in front of the camera Sarah and Curt were soon laughing and smiling at each other and we got some great photos.

Then it was speech time! Everyone was called in and seated in record time – love working at a Dine venue! Charlie had finally given in and was carried in to sleep through the entire thing on a make shift bed in the corner. The speeches were brilliant with Sarah and Curt both receiving a decent amount of abuse. And I think best man Dave surprised even himself when he broke down at the end of his!

Once the cake was cut we had a bit of a break before the first dance so Sarah and Curt and their little boy headed off to cool down in the tub! Once they were back I took my chance to grab them for more photos outside now that the sun had moved, and on the amazing staircase inside (with help from my able assistant, flower girl Olivia – thank you!). Evening guests were arriving by now so Sarah and Curt headed off to say hi to the newcomers and then it was time for the first dance. I stayed for a few songs and then headed off when it became clear that people were just too hot to boogie!

Thank you Sarah & Curt for trusting me to capture your wedding, it was an absolute pleasure! If you’re on the lookout for a photographer for your wedding at Howsham Hall please do get in touch! x
