A September Wedding at The Tithe Barn Bolton Abbey in North Yorkshire
Tithe Barn Wedding Yorkshire. My second wedding at this gorgeous place! I’d met Dani and Michael at Bolton Abbey way back in the spring for their engagement shoot and they were a lot of fun to photograph so I knew I was in for a good day!
I joined Dani and her bridesmaids and family at her parent’s home near Bingley where hair and make up were in full swing. Emily Hawkes was their hair stylist and Louise Lunn was in charge of make up for Dani and her lovely mum.
I love the “getting ready part”; always so much laughter and excitement plus I get to spend that bit of extra time with all the girls and get to know them a bit better.
As always the time flew by and Dani headed upstairs to get dressed. Her dads reaction when he saw her for the first time was another one of my favourites for 2018! And it got even better when she made her way downstairs to the bridesmaids and man of honour, her brother!) who were absolutely blown away! It was a very emotional few minutes and even I struggled to keep it together!
I left everyone to relax for a bit and have a glass of bubbly whilst I headed to The Priory Church to see Michael and the guys before the ceremony. They all looked awesome in black tie (love black tie!). Soon guests were arriving so I left them alone and blended into the background to get some more candid shots. I also had a chat with the vicar who very kindly let me stand at the front of the church with the choir throughout the service – RESULT!!! I’ve photographed a few weddings at The Priory and this was the first time I’d been able to shoot from the front, and I was pretty pleased to say the least!
Once the girls had arrived I took my place and waited for Dani to make her entrance. And it was a good’un! Safe to say she took Michael’s breath away, and rightly so!
After the ceremony and register signing Dani and Michael made their way back up the (huge!) aisle as husband and wife (whoop!) and waited outside to say hello to everyone. I love capturing people’s faces and reactions straight after the ceremony – such a great time for the candid shots of the guests that people always love.
Dani & Michael wanted some group photos at the abbey so we got some of the smaller ones of immediate family and the bridal party here, before letting everyone make their way up to the barn for drinks.
I held on to the happy couple and we spend a while in the ruins and grounds of the abbey getting some great shots of the two of them before heading up to join the others.
Everyone was in place with confetti when we arrived at The Tithe Barn so I dashed through to capture Dani & Michael being bombed with rose petals! few more group photos later and I headed inside to get some details shots of the barn. These guys had opted for round tables and a straight top table so the space looked so different from my last visit! I loved the vases of flowers in creams and coral by Sophie’s Flowers, and the place names which were handwritten on to slices of agate.
Pretty soon everyone was seated for food which was a roast dinner. Dani and Michael had nominated a “carver” at each table and organised a novelty apron for each one which worked so well – really helped to bring each table together and break the ice!
Speeches were after the meal but I managed to sneak Dani and Michael out for some photos in the evening sun first.
And just like that it was time to cut the cake and party the night away!
Huge thanks to Dani & Michael for asking me to capture your wedding, I had an amazing time! x
