Tithe Barn Wedding Bolton Abbey. Back at the beautiful Tithe Barn Bolton Abbey on a perfect September day for Fiona & Lewis’s wedding! I joined Fiona and her bridesmaids and parents at her family home in Harrogate to capture them all getting ready. Fiona showed me upstairs to where her gorgeous Caroline Castigliano gown was hanging (on a hook placed especially for it by her lovely dad!). I started by photographing the dress and other details whilst Fiona headed down to join the rest of the girls. I soon joined them myself and spent a lovely relaxed couple of hours capturing everyone having their hair and make up done, before it was time for Fiona to get dressed. It was lovely to be working with Louise Rhodes again who was in charge of hair for Fiona and the girls, and I was very excited to see the amazing bouquets by Claire Slater; the colours and textures were perfect!
Meanwhile my second shooter Lissa joined Lewis and the guys at Fiona and Lewis’s home to capture them getting ready. I love having a second shooter so that they can get this side of the story pre-ceremony! Once dressed they all headed to the church at St John Fisher High School Harrogate for a few photos before the ceremony.
Back with the girls Fiona was in her gown and we let her dad and then the bridesmaids get their first look at her all ready to go. I made my way to the church to say hi to Lewis and to wait for the girls to arrive. Fiona and Lewis went to school here together, and their old music teacher played the piano during the ceremony, so it was a really significant service for them. And the last wedding to take place here ever!
After the ceremony Fiona and Lewis walked back up the aisle and everyone else followed to grab a fistful of confetti and line up outside. Fiona and Lewis exited in a flurry of petals and everyone crowded around to congratulate them. I’m sure I’ve said it before but I do love this time for lots of photos of so many smiling faces! Fiona and Lewis had organised drinks and snacks for everyone at the church so that they (and I!) could sneak off to the barn to get some photos of the two of them there before people arrived. It was a beautifully sunny day and we got lots of lovely shots of the two of them inside out outside, and once the guests were all in we whipped through a few group photos in the garden. Lissa and I spent the rest of the drinks reception capturing Fiona and Lewis and their friends and family enjoying the sunshine, plus lots of shots of the amazing set up in the barn. Claire Slater had done all of the centrepieces and hanging balls of foliage and it looked incredible!
Soon everyone was called in to take their seats for the speeches. As always there were quite a lot of nerves flying around but they were all wonderful speeches, and then of course there came the food which at the Tithe Barn is excellent!
After dinner there was a bit of time before the evening reception and the sun was just turning that lovely golden shade that we photographers go a bit giddy over! So I took Fiona and Lewis back outside for a few more shots of the two of them before it was time to cut the cake.
The first dance followed straight after and soon the dance floor was full of mad shape-throwers (just how I like it!). I stayed to get some photos of Fiona and Lewis lighting sparklers with everyone outside on the terrace and then left them to enjoy more food and the second set of their fab band Young Soul.
