Tithe Barn Wedding Photography | Maggie Sottero for a blustery Spring wedding at Bolton Abbey
Tithe Barn Wedding Photography. I have waited SO LONG to see these two get married! Rachel & Josh were originally due to tie the knot in May 2020 but waited two extra years thanks to you-know-what. So I was over the moon to see them have their big day at last, and they’ve had a gorgeous little girl in the meantime who could share it with them (when she was awake!).
I joined Rachel & the girls at Stank House Farm which I highly recommend if you’re getting married at the Tithe Barn – loads of space! Rachel was having her make up expertly applied by Your Bridal Team when I arrived so I grabbed a few detail shots of her dress and so on before nipping back down to catch eye liner, blusher and lipstick (my favourite bits!). And then I spent the next hour or so capturing Rachel and the girls enjoying champagne and toast (winning combo :-D) whilst their hair and make up was being finished. We were also joined by videographer Thomas Midgley who was lovely to work with so I highly recommend him too!
Meanwhile my wonderful second shooter Lissa was with Josh and the guys at his family home outside Skipton where they were getting suited and booted before heading to the Priory Church at Bolton Abbey.
The morning flew by and soon it was time for Rachel to get dressed. She looked amazing in her gorgeous Maggie Sottero gown; it was so wonderful to see her so happy to finally be able to wear it! I got a few photos of Rachel and the bridesmaids all ready to go and then it was off to the church for me too.
Rachel arrived and the ceremony could begin – I got a few shots of everyone walking down the aisle but then I moved off to the side at the vicars request whilst Lissa was at the back of the building. Vows, rings, hymns, readings and then husband and wife – AT LAST!
Rachel and Josh walked back up the aisle and outside into the April sun (and wind!). They waited outside to say some hello’s to their friends and family and then most people made their way up to the Tithe Barn for drinks and canapés. We did some group photos with the bridesmaids and groomsmen before whisking Rachel and Josh around the abbey for some shots of just the two of them. The wind made that interesting to say the least – luckily I love a windswept veil and Rachel & Josh were happy to brave it 😀
We headed back to the barn to rejoin the rest of the wedding where we just had time to finish off the group photos and grab some details of the tables set up for dinner and then it was time for everyone to take their seats and for the new Mr & Mrs M to be announced!
Speeches were after the meal, and then we had a nice hour or so before the evening reception. Due to timings and the wind we left confetti until the evening with a smaller group of guests, and then I got a few shots of Rachel & Josh in the evening sun outside the barn before it was time for cake cutting and the first dance. As with a lot of my couples these guys found the first dance a little awkward to say the least so it wasn’t long before everyone joined them and the dance floor filled!
Rachel & Josh I am SO happy that you are finally married! Thank you so much for sticking with me through so many postponements, it brought me such joy to be able to share your wedding day with you. Such a joy to be back at my favourite venue too. Be sure to check out some of the other weddings I’ve photographed at The Tithe Barn, and please do get in touch if you’re planning your wedding there and looking for a photographer!
