Broughton Hall Wedding Photographer | Natalie & Antony | Utopia

Broughton Hall Wedding Photographer. My second wedding of the weekend saw me back at the amazing Utopia at Broughton Hall near Skipton. The forecast was not good to say the least but one of the great things about Utopia is the roof that overhangs the patio around the entire building – perfect for keeping dry in bad weather but still feeling like you are outside! Plus two of the walls are made of glass panels so it’s always lovely and light inside.

I joined Natalie and Antony at one of the cottages on the Broughton Hall Estate where they were both getting ready with their bridesmaids, ushers and family. I spent a super chilled couple of hours with them all, capturing the hair and make up of the bridal party, and the bacon sandwiches of the groomsmen! I grabbed a few shots of Antony getting ready before he left for Utopia and then it was Natalie’s turn to get dressed. We let her dad in to see her all ready to go and then I made my way to Utopia as well to get some shots of the setup and guests arriving.

The rain started as Natalie and co arrived and they took refuge in the spa until it was time to walk down aisle! They had planned on an outdoor ceremony and a little rain was not going to stop them so they went ahead on the terrace overlooking the gardens. Again that roof around Utopia came in very handy!

The ceremony was lovely and full of laughter. Afterwards Natalie and Antony walked back through Utopia and out to the front to have a few moments alone whilst we set up the confetti at the back steps. We managed a successful confetti blasting, a big shot of everyone on the steps, and one family picture, before the drizzle turned into a downpour and everyone headed undercover.

It showed no sign of letting up so we smashed through the rest of the group photos at the front of the building. We decided to forge on and get some couple shots of Natalie and Antony around Utopia, and even managed to get a few out in the gardens in the rain before heading back inside. The staff had the room turned around for the wedding breakfast in no time at all so I had loads of time to get plenty of detail shots of the wedding breakfast setup as well as plenty of candid shots of everyone enjoying the drinks reception before dinner and speeches were announced.

The speeches were after the meal so I left them all alone to eat and rejoined them later on. Despite a lot of nerves the speeches were fantastic – the room was intermittently roaring with laughter or in floods of tears!

There was a break before the evening reception so everyone piled back out onto the terrace whilst the staff cleared the tables away. Before long it was time for the first dance, and pizza! Thank you Natalie and Antony for asking me to document your wedding, I had an amazing time and it was wonderful to share the day with you! Oh, hey!I'm Laura.

    PEOPLE WATCHER.

    STORYTELLER.

    MOTHER.

    CAKE PLEASE.

I live near Ilkley with my slightly* nutty 9 year old Rose, and I have had the honour of photographing weddings and families for 11 years now. I genuinely cannot believe how lucky I am that I get to call this my job.

*she once told me that traffic lights are the bane of her life, and she went through a phase of naming everything "Cantameen". Send help!

I love photographing people. Whether it's your wedding day, you're expecting or have just had a baby, or you simply want to capture your loved ones the way they are right now, my aim is to document unique moments in time to create a beautiful set of images that you will treasure for many years to come. My style combines photojournalism with beautiful portraits, and my fun and relaxed approach makes you feel comfortable and at ease in front of the camera – I want you to actually enjoy having your photograph taken!

Although I’m based near Ilkley I cover all of Yorkshire and I’m actually happy to travel anywhere for weddings and portrait shoots. So if you have any questions then please get in touch using one of my contact forms. In the meantime, grab a cuppa and browse through my wedding or portrait galleries, or take a look at my most recent work on the blog.

I can't wait to hear from you x
