Newby Hall Wedding Photography | Laura & Will | Papakata Wedding.

Newby Hall Wedding Photography. This pair were married on a picture perfect summers day at the magnificent Newby Hall near Ripon. I joined Laura and co at Newby in the morning where Natasha from Yorkshire Hair and Make Up was in charge of (unsurprisingly!) hair and makeup for everyone. I started with details of Laura’s dress, shoes etc before capturing them all going through the hair and makeup stations! We were joined by videographer James Wray as well, who was lovely to work alongside of – I highly recommend him!

Meanwhile my second shooter Jamie met up with Will and the boys at their hotel in Harrogate to get some shots of them all getting ready as well. They then all made their way to Christ the Consoler Church on the Newby estate for the ceremony. I captured Laura getting into her dress and finished off with a few group photos of her and her bridesmaids and family before making my own way to the church.

We waited at the gate for Laura arrive along with her and Will’s gorgeous Cavapoo Luna who joined us for the ceremony. I’d met her at their engagement shoot and fell instantly in love! She was clearly desperate to be reunited with her mummy and daddy and was so excited when Laura arrived!

I headed in to take my place at the front of the church whilst Jamie captured things from the back. Will was clearly blown away when he saw Laura walking down the aisle towards him, and rightly so! The service was so lovely; largely down to their wonderful vicar who was so relaxed and funny, and made it really personal to Laura and Will.

Once Laura and Will were declared husband and wife and the register was signed, they made their way back up the aisle (with Luna of course!) and out into the sunshine. They spent a bit of time alone whilst the guests spilled out and lined up for confetti down the church path. Expertly coordinated by event planner Lucy Wright who always has things running so smoothly!

A quick confetti bombing and it was back to Newby. I met back up with Laura and Will at the front of the building for a few photos before they headed through to the terrace to rejoin their friends and family for the drinks reception. We let them have a bit of a break to chat to people for a while before whipping through the group photos, plus an aerial shot of everyone which I got by hanging from a bedroom window!

Then it was time for Laura and Will and their immediate families and the bridal party to wander down through the gardens for a ride on the miniature railway. As you do! The little page boys especially loved it! Afterwards everyone joined back together on the terrace and I nipped over to their Papakata Sperry Tent to get lots of shots of things set up for the wedding breakfast. It looked amazing inside with tall floor displays by Angie from Beautiful Flowers in Tockwith, and a beautiful cake by Poppy Pickering – she is always amazing! The detail on her cakes and the sharpness of the edges always amazes me, plus I’ve been lucky enough to sample her cakes at a few wedding fairs now and they are delicious!

Anyway, moving on from cake! Soon the guests were called in to take their seats for the speeches and I took Laura and Will off for a few more photos in the beautiful gardens. I could have carried on for hours really but reeled myself in at 20 minutes so that we could head over for the speeches. Laura and Will were announced in to huge applause and cheers and the speeches began! All four were fantastic (Laura said a few words as well – more bride speeches please!) and the tent was filled with laughter. A lot of it at Will’s expense, obviously!

After dinner the sun was starting to dip down behind the clouds so we grabbed Laura and Will for some last shots in the evening light. Soon it was time for the cake to be cut and the first dance to be danced. Laura and Will had organised confetti cannons which the bridesmaids and ushers let off halfway through the first dance. More of this too please! The gold confetti looked amazing floating down over Laura and Will. The dance floor then filled and I got loads of great embarrassing shots of people throwing shapes before heading home.

Thank you Laura and Will for asking me to document your wedding day! And if you’re planning a wedding at Newby Hall nd looking for a photographer then please do get in touch!

    Oh, hey!I'm Laura.

    PEOPLE WATCHER.

    STORYTELLER.

    MOTHER.

    CAKE PLEASE.

I live near Ilkley with my slightly* nutty 9 year old Rose, and I have had the honour of photographing weddings and families for 11 years now. I genuinely cannot believe how lucky I am that I get to call this my job.

*she once told me that traffic lights are the bane of her life, and she went through a phase of naming everything "Cantameen". Send help!

I love photographing people. Whether it's your wedding day, you're expecting or have just had a baby, or you simply want to capture your loved ones the way they are right now, my aim is to document unique moments in time to create a beautiful set of images that you will treasure for many years to come. My style combines photojournalism with beautiful portraits, and my fun and relaxed approach makes you feel comfortable and at ease in front of the camera – I want you to actually enjoy having your photograph taken!

Although I’m based near Ilkley I cover all of Yorkshire and I’m actually happy to travel anywhere for weddings and portrait shoots. So if you have any questions then please get in touch using one of my contact forms. In the meantime, grab a cuppa and browse through my wedding or portrait galleries, or take a look at my most recent work on the blog.

I can't wait to hear from you x
