Goldsborough Hall Wedding in the Spring | Jo & Ian

Catching the last of the snow at Jo & Ian’s Goldsborough Hall wedding…

Back at one of my favourite Yorkshire wedding venues – Goldsborough Hall – for Jo & Ian’s spring wedding! Which almost looked like a winter wedding thanks to the heavy snowfall we had a couple of days before. I actually couldn’t believe the weather we ended up with on the day – bright skies, no wind and no rain. And the snow had melted! To say Jo was relieved is an understatement!

Getting Ready.

I joined Jo in the Lascelles suite where she was getting ready with her bridesmaids, guysmaid, lovely little flower girl, and the mums! The amazing Your Bridal Team were there with Amy on make up and Caroline (also Caroline Louise Bridal Hair) on hair. I’ve worked with Caroline lots of times now and she’s always brilliant!

I started with shots of Jo’s dress and other details in one of the other rooms before rejoining team bride to get lots of candid shots of everyone having hair and make up done and just enjoying the morning. We were also joined by Simon Manning, one of my favourite videographers, so it was lovely to see and work with him again.

Ian arrived to get ready an hour or so before the ceremony so we nipped down to get some shots of him and the guys donning bow ties, pocket squares and buttonholes. I also grabbed a few shots of the ceremony set up – the Drawing Room looked amazing with gorgeous chair covers & floral displays by Shindig Events. Then I headed back up to catch the end of hair and make up and to see Jo get into her beautiful Justin Alexander gown. She looked incredible! We brought her bridesmaids and guysmaid in to see her all ready to go, and everyone attempted not to cry! Then it was downstairs for the ceremony.

A Goldsborough Hall Wedding Ceremony.

Simon and I took our places at the front of the ceremony and waited with a rather nervous Ian for Jo to make her entrance! The light in the Drawing Room was lush and the ceremony was perfect with some lovely readings that I’d not heard before. Soon the rings were exchanged and the kiss was kissed and it was time to head back up the aisle and outside for confetti.

Reception.

We lined everyone up either side of the stairs to the main entrance and called out Jo & Ian to be dowsed with confetti – which they well and truly were! I always love confetti shots, and there’s always one guest who runs out and dumps their whole handful of petals in the bride and groom’s faces and today was no exception!

It was bright but chilly outside so everyone hung around for some congratulatory hugs which was perfect as these always make for great candid shots of smiley guests. We whizzed through some group photos and headed inside to warm up.

I grabbed some shots of the Orangery which was ready for the wedding breakfast and looked amazing with tall floral displays in greens and white again by the super talented Shindig. There was time then for some more candid shots of people enjoy drinks and canapés in the library.

Once Jo and Ian were fed and watered and warmed up a bit we took them back outside for some shots of just the two of them. We headed straight for the greenhouse as Ian was keen to get photos there which was great for me as I love it too. We then explored the grounds a bit further and got loads more shots before it was time to go in for speeches.

Speeches.

Everyone was seated when we got back so Jo & Ian were announced in as the new Mr & Mrs and it was on with the speeches! I like speeches before food – either option has its advantages but having them first gets them out of the way if people are really nervous, and means the tables are still freshly set for the photos!

Jo’s brother-in-law Shay, Ian, and then best man Nigel all gave great speeches. If they were nervous you couldn’t tell, and the room rang with laughter.

We left them all alone the to enjoy their meal. And I enjoyed a delicious risotto myself (thanks Jo & Ian!) whilst backing up the photos and waiting for the evening reception to start.

Party time.

Once the dessert was finished it was time for their beautiful cake by Where The Ribbon Ends (one of the best!) to be cut in the orangery, and then a bit of a break before the evening guests arrived. We also managed a quick round of sparklers after dark before the rain kicked in! Jo & Ian got the party started with their first dance and I stayed for loads of great dancing shots before leaving them all to the rest of their night.
