A long-awaited Summer wedding at The Grand Hotel in York City Centre…

Grand Hotel York Wedding Photography. I was so happy to see these guys finally get their wedding day! I think it had been about 3 years since we first met by the time their wedding came around (thanks Covid!).

I met up with Charlotte and her bridesmaids and family in one of the suites at The Grand where hair and make up were already underway under the expert hands of Samantha Ashley and Debbie Purkiss. We were also joined by videographer Jonny from A&A Video who was a pleasure to work with! It was such a calm and relaxed morning, with little flower girl Grace keeping everyone entertained.

I started as usual with some detail shots of dress/shoes/jewellery etc before moving on to some candid shots of everyone’s hair and make up being finished.

The time flew by and it was soon time for Charlotte to get into her gorgeous Catherine Deane gown which I loved – such beautiful flowing fabric! We brought her dad up to see her all ready to go and then made our way down to the Grand Boardroom to catch Andrew & the guys putting their buttonholes on before the ceremony.

Guests were seated and Andrew waited nervously for Charlotte to make her entrance! Little Grace was a bit shy about walking down the aisle and hid behind her mum but she made it! Followed by the bridesmaids and then Charlotte and her dad. It was such a sweet ceremony and it seemed to absolutely whizz by. Charlotte & Andrew walked back up the aisle as husband and wife and we all went outside for confetti. We whipped through a few family photos and then the guests headed inside for drinks and canapes whilst we took Charlotte & Andrew to the Museum Gardens for some shots of the two of them. I’d met with them at Temple Newsam for their engagement shoot a few months before so I knew they’d be pros at this part, and they were! I got loads of great relaxed shots of them around the ruins of St Mary’s Abbey and then we headed back to The Grand for the rest of the drinks reception.

They’d hired magician Greg Chipman to keep everyone entertained before the meal and he was fantastic, and it made for some great candid shots. Speeches were really informal and held down in the White Rose Suite where the drinks reception was, and all three speakers did such a great job. Massive congrats to Andrew for holding it together throughout his as he didn’t think he would manage!

Then it was back upstairs to the Grand Boardroom for the wedding breakfast. It looked amazing all decked out by the lovely Emma from The Petal Studio (I highly recommend her if you’re looking for a florist!). And the cake by Where the Ribbon Ends was a thing of beauty! Charlotte & Andrew were announced and then it was time to leave them all to eat in peace!

There was a nice break after dinner so we headed over to the Minster for more shots of Charlotte & Andrew together and then it was time for the party to start!

Charlotte and Andrew I am so happy that you finally had your wedding day after so much time and so many hiccups along the way! It was an absolute pleasure to share it with you both. If you’re looking for a photographer for your wedding at The Grand Hotel in York please do get in touch.

    Oh, hey!I'm Laura.

    PEOPLE WATCHER.

    STORYTELLER.

    MOTHER.

    CAKE PLEASE.

I live near Ilkley with my slightly* nutty 9 year old Rose, and I have had the honour of photographing weddings and families for 11 years now. I genuinely cannot believe how lucky I am that I get to call this my job.

*she once told me that traffic lights are the bane of her life, and she went through a phase of naming everything "Cantameen". Send help!

I love photographing people. Whether it's your wedding day, you're expecting or have just had a baby, or you simply want to capture your loved ones the way they are right now, my aim is to document unique moments in time to create a beautiful set of images that you will treasure for many years to come. My style combines photojournalism with beautiful portraits, and my fun and relaxed approach makes you feel comfortable and at ease in front of the camera – I want you to actually enjoy having your photograph taken!

Although I’m based near Ilkley I cover all of Yorkshire and I’m actually happy to travel anywhere for weddings and portrait shoots. So if you have any questions then please get in touch using one of my contact forms. In the meantime, grab a cuppa and browse through my wedding or portrait galleries, or take a look at my most recent work on the blog.

I can't wait to hear from you x
