Yorkshire Wedding Barn Photography | Sophie & Dan

An outdoor ceremony, singing waiters, and beautiful foliage for a Summer wedding at The Yorkshire Wedding Barn…

Yorkshire Wedding Barn Photography. Back at the Yorkshire wedding barn which is one of my absolute faves and I don’t work there enough (hint hint!). I had met Sophie and Dan properly for the first time a couple of months before for their engagement shoot so it was lovely to see them again and feel like friends catching up (again hint hint; I love an engagement shoot!).

I joined Sophie & the girls in the bridal suite above the Hay Barn where they were all fully in the midst of hair and make up prep. I jumped right in with lots of candid shots of them all having their hair finished and enjoying some drinks.  We were also joined by fab videographer Ross Ramsey who was a pleasure to work with!

Meanwhile the lovely Brigitta met with Dan & the guys at The Farmhouse next door to get some shots of them getting ready as well. After they enjoyed a full fry up of course – it’s a very different vibe with the boys before a wedding!

Back at bridal HQ I got some shots of Sophie’s gorgeous Lillian West gown hanging from the staircase and then Sophie’s gorgeous nephews arrived. Soon it was time for Sophie to get dressed and then I headed outside to get ready for the ceremony.

I imagine most people were hoping the sun would stay but I was happy to see some clouds roll in and soften the light! We all took our places and waited for Sophie & the girls to make their entrance. The ceremony was lovely, with two great readings from Dan’s mum and bridesmaid Esme. I also enjoyed it when neither Dan nor Sophie could get each other’s ring to go on!

They walked back up the aisle as husband and wife and we organised a confetti tunnel on the step down from the barn. Walking back wards down there was interesting I made it without falling into/over anyone/thing. We got a quick group shot of everyone on the stairs and then it was back up to the barn for the drinks reception.

We had loads of time so we let Sophie & Dan have a break and enjoy some drinks and canapés with their friends and family before whipping through their group photo list. The page boys were less than impressed but we got through 😀 Then we took Sophie & Dan around the grounds for some shots of just the two of them. Spoilt for choice here, there are so many lovely places and so many good views!

Dinner was announced a little while later and we all made our way up to the Hay Barn for the wedding breakfast. Sophie & Dan were called in to huge cheers and then we had a bit of a break before speeches which were after the main course. I was happy to learn that Sophie had booked singing waiters Singers 4 Supper as a surprise for after the speeches – I LOVE singing waiters they are so much fun and really get the crowd involved which makes for great photos.

Dessert was then served and all that was left after that was to relax and wait for the party to start. We also took Sophie & Dan out to the corn field behind the barn for some more shots of just the two of them in the evening sun.

The evening do kicked off with the cake cutting and first dance, and then so many of Sophie & Dan’s guests joined the dance floor it was heaving which is perfect for me because I love embarrassing shots of people throwing shapes with no shame!

Sophie & Dan it was a pleasure to photograph your gorgeous wedding, thank you so much for having me along! I live near Ilkley with my slightly* nutty 9 year old Rose, and I have had the honour of photographing weddings and families for 11 years now. I genuinely cannot believe how lucky I am that I get to call this my job.

*she once told me that traffic lights are the bane of her life, and she went through a phase of naming everything "Cantameen". Send help!

I love photographing people. Whether it's your wedding day, you're expecting or have just had a baby, or you simply want to capture your loved ones the way they are right now, my aim is to document unique moments in time to create a beautiful set of images that you will treasure for many years to come. My style combines photojournalism with beautiful portraits, and my fun and relaxed approach makes you feel comfortable and at ease in front of the camera – I want you to actually enjoy having your photograph taken!

Although I’m based near Ilkley I cover all of Yorkshire and I’m actually happy to travel anywhere for weddings and portrait shoots. So if you have any questions then please get in touch using one of my contact forms. In the meantime, grab a cuppa and browse through my wedding or portrait galleries, or take a look at my most recent work on the blog.

I can't wait to hear from you x
