A Bluebell-filled Woodland Wedding at Hazlewood Castle | Michelle & Adam
Hazlewood Castle Woodland Wedding Photography. Ah this pair! We’d only met via zoom before the wedding so I was so excited to finally meet them in person. I already knew from chatting and emailing with them that we were going to have a really fun and relaxed day, and I was right!
Michelle was getting ready at Hazlewood Castle with her bridesmaids and flower girls under the expert hand of Natalie Willingham. I love working with Natalie; she always has everyone ready on time and she’s so lovely to spend the morning with! I started as usual with photos of Michelle’s beautiful Rolling in Roses gown and other details. Her flowers by Yvonne Dennis were gorgeous and smelled amazing, and I loved the lace of her gown. And it was made from plants which made me extra happy!
I spent the next hour or so capturing Michelle having her hair and make up done by Natalie, and chatting with her bridesmaids and lovely flower girls who were such sweethearts. Her mum joined us when she was dressed and set off crying pretty much as she walked in and saw Michelle having her flower crown fitted! Then it was time to tidy up and get Michelle into her dress. We brought her dad in to see her all ready to go and then I made my way over to the woodland wedding area where the ceremony and reception were taking place. I hadn’t been to Hazlewood in nearly 3 years so this was my first time seeing their new woodland venue, and it’s gorgeous!
I said hi to Adam and grabbed some photos of the ceremony set up, and then busied myself with candid shots of guests arriving before everyone took their seats to wait for Michelle and co to make their entrance. I was so impressed with the flower girls for making it all the way down the hill and the aisle in perfect timing and with smiles on their faces! Michelle looked radiant as she made her way to Adam and I knew they were both trying not to cry so that they didn’t set the other one off!
The ceremony was lovely and it wasn’t long before Michelle and Adam were pronounced husband and wife and walked back up the aisle in a flurry of confetti. They grabbed a drink and turned to greet all of their guests. I let them have some time saying hello and being hugged and congratulated before we tackled their group photo list. Which was gloriously short and we managed in about 10 minutes flat – YES!
Michelle & Adam had also booked Birdie & Co‘s Camper Van which doubled as a photo booth in the evening but was free for us to jump into and take a ride out to the woods arounds Hazlewood for some photos of the two of them. Coincidentally we had both separately spotted a gorgeous patch of bluebells not far up the drive so we headed straight there and got some gorgeous shots of them together. A few pics with the camper and it was back to the reception for Michelle and Adam to have a breather and for me to get some photographs of the gorgeous set up in the tipi. I adored their cake by one of my faves, Where The Ribbon Ends, which was decorated with dried flowers.
Guests were seated and Michelle and Adam were announced in for the speeches. All three speeches had everyone in stitches, and Michelle and her mum in tears!
The food was served and we had a nice long break then before the evening reception started. After dinner Michelle’s parents’ gorgeous dog arrived for some fresh air so I took the opportunity to get a few photos with her before Michelle and Adam cut their cake. They were having a traditional “first dance” or especially keen on party photos so that was my time to head home!
Michelle & Adam, thank you so much for trusting me to capture your gorgeous woodland wedding! It was my first of these at Hazlewood and I’m dying to go back so if you’re looking for a photographer for your wedding at this beautiful venue please do contact me!
