Tithe Barn Cripps & Co Wedding | Jess & James

Tithe Barn Cripps & Co Wedding | A gorgeous May wedding at The Tithe Barn Bolton Abbey

Tithe Barn Cripps & Co Wedding. Another gorgeous Tithe Barn wedding for me, I’m so lucky to get to work here so much! I joined Jess at the Devonshire Arms where she was getting ready with her mum and Maid of Honour, another Jess! The other bridesmaids had been and gone off to get ready elsewhere so that Jess could spend a peaceful couple of hours having her make up done by Jodie Bloomer and getting into her gorgeous Nori Ivy Bridal gown. It was a really relaxed morning and Jess was ready with plenty of time to spare which was great because it meant we weren’t rushed and I could get some shots of her and her parents and a few solo portraits before making my way to the Tithe Barn.

I grabbed James and the guys for some quick group photos before he went to see the registrar and then some detail shots of the barn set up as people started to arrive. It looked amazing as always! There was time for a few candid shots of guests arriving before Jess drove up. She was early even, an unusual thing on a wedding day!

Then it was ceremony time and I think we were all impressed that all 4 of the flower girls and page boys made it down the aisle with no tears! It was a lovely service with readings from Jess and James’s mums, and it wasn’t long before the register was signed and it was back up the aisle and outside for a drink. Jess and James opted to go for a quick drive for some time just the two of them. I joined everyone else as they grabbed a glass of fizz or a beer and headed out into the garden.

Once Jess and James were back I grabbed a few shots of them at the front of the barn whilst confetti was handed out amongst their guests. We then headed out back and they were greeted with great applause and a blast of petals. We whipped through some group photos and then I left Jess and James with their friends and family whilst I got some shots of the barn set up for the wedding breakfast. They had opted for the long tables which I don’t see often and it looked fab.

We had time for a few more photos of Jess and James before everyone was seated for dinner. Best man Ryan announced the new Mr & Mrs R and then food was served. Speeches were after the meal (and the food was incredible!) and had the barn ringing with laughter.

After the speeches we had a bit of a break before the evening reception started so I took Jess and James outside for some more shots of just the two of them now that most of the formalities were done and everyone felt a bit more relaxed.

Jess opted to throw her bouquet which is something I don’t see often these days but is always a lot of fun. Happily the unsuspecting partner of the lovely lady who caught it seemed ok with the situation. Then it was time to cut the (cheese!) cake and dance the first dance. Jess and James had booked the South West Band who are one of my faves, and I stayed to capture some of the mad dance floor action before leaving them in peace.

Huge thanks to Jess & James for asking me to capture your wedding day! Please do get in touch if you’re looking for a photographer for your wedding at my fave The Tithe Barn, and view some of my other Tithe Barn Weddings here!

I live near Ilkley with my slightly* nutty 9 year old Rose, and I have had the honour of photographing weddings and families for 11 years now. I genuinely cannot believe how lucky I am that I get to call this my job.

*she once told me that traffic lights are the bane of her life, and she went through a phase of naming everything "Cantameen". Send help!

I love photographing people. Whether it's your wedding day, you're expecting or have just had a baby, or you simply want to capture your loved ones the way they are right now, my aim is to document unique moments in time to create a beautiful set of images that you will treasure for many years to come. My style combines photojournalism with beautiful portraits, and my fun and relaxed approach makes you feel comfortable and at ease in front of the camera – I want you to actually enjoy having your photograph taken!

Although I’m based near Ilkley I cover all of Yorkshire and I’m actually happy to travel anywhere for weddings and portrait shoots. So if you have any questions then please get in touch using one of my contact forms. In the meantime, grab a cuppa and browse through my wedding or portrait galleries, or take a look at my most recent work on the blog.

I can't wait to hear from you x
