Hirst Priory Wedding Photography | Cat & Richard.

Hirst Priory Wedding Photography. My first wet wedding of 2019! And it wasn’t to be the last! I’d first met Cat & Richard about a year ago and then again for their engagement shoot in the autumn. Between all the things Cat had planned and the way they were with each other in front of the camera I knew we were in for a good day! They had planned an outdoor ceremony in the woodland in the grounds at Hirst Priory but sadly the weather had other plans! When I arrived Cat was just sitting down to have her hair done so I busied myself in one of the other amazing rooms photographing her dress, shoes; all the girly stuff! The rooms at Hirst Prior are all beautifully decorated and the bridal suite is so light and bright – perfect for me!

I rejoined Cat & the girls as Cat’s make up was being done and final decision about the ceremony location were being made! Cat was gutted as a woodland wedding was something she and Richard had clearly dreamed of and had been planning for months. BUT, the ceremony room at Hirst Priory is beautiful, and once it was filled with flowers by Vert & Vase it looked incredible – not bad for a back up location!

Soon it was time for Cat to get dressed and her mum, bridesmaids and dad to see her ready for the first time. Safe to say that they approved! I headed downstairs to capture some candid shots of Richard greeting the guests and then it was showtime! The ceremony was beautiful, with lovely readings by Cat’s auntie and a close friend.

It was still pouring down outside so Cat & Richard walked back up the aisle and lead everyone out into the hall for drinks and canapés. Their guests all crowded around the to say their hello’s and congratulations – one of my favourite times to capture! The staff at Hirst Priory then opened up The Vaults downstairs and most people headed down there whilst we whipped through some group photos.

The rain had eased off by this point so I took Cat & Richard (& a brolly!) out into the grounds for some photos of the two of them. Complete naturals! When we got back inside there was just time for me to get some detail shots of the wedding breakfast set up before the guests were assembled on the staircase fora confetti blast – big thanks to Hirst Priory for letting us do this inside!

Speeches were before the meal and despite many nerves they were all brilliant – not a voice wobble or flushed face in sight! After dinner (& cake cutting!) we spotted a gap in the clouds so we took our chance to get everyone outside for a group photo and another blast of confetti (which was promptly blown to the right by a sudden gust of wind!). Cat also threw her bouquet, which was caught by her legendary auntie Trish! A few shots of Cat and her bridesmaids in their leather jackets and we headed inside.

We nipped down to The Vaults for some more shots of Cat & Richard and then I finally let them have a break! A short while later the evening reception started and it was time for the first dance. After a few songs the dance floor started to clear so I took my cue and left them to enjoy their night.

Thank you Cat & Richard for having me along, I had a blast! And if anyone is planning a wedding at Hirst Priory then please do get in touch! x

I live near Ilkley with my slightly* nutty 9 year old Rose, and I have had the honour of photographing weddings and families for 11 years now. I genuinely cannot believe how lucky I am that I get to call this my job.

*she once told me that traffic lights are the bane of her life, and she went through a phase of naming everything "Cantameen". Send help!

I love photographing people. Whether it's your wedding day, you're expecting or have just had a baby, or you simply want to capture your loved ones the way they are right now, my aim is to document unique moments in time to create a beautiful set of images that you will treasure for many years to come. My style combines photojournalism with beautiful portraits, and my fun and relaxed approach makes you feel comfortable and at ease in front of the camera – I want you to actually enjoy having your photograph taken!

Although I’m based near Ilkley I cover all of Yorkshire and I’m actually happy to travel anywhere for weddings and portrait shoots.
