Chilli Barn Wedding Photography. Can you believe the heatwave we had over the Easter weekend?!

Instead of spending my Easter Sunday pigging out on the THREE diary-free Easter eggs my parents got me (sadly quantity does not make up for quality in this case but I appreciate the thought mum!). I spent the day with these gorgeous humans at The Chilli Barn in Otley.

I joined Hollie & her mum and bridesmaids at her dad’s house outside Leeds. Her dad had been kicked out for the morning and it was probably for the best with 8 women getting ready there!

Laura Dawson was in charge of everyone’s hair and was on her fourth or fifth bridesmaid when I arrived! I spent some time on the top floor photographing Hollie’s amazing dress and other details and then busied myself playing “stalk the bridesmaid”! Not always as stealthily as I would have liked 😀 Hollie did her own make up, and a glorious job she did too! She was last to have her hair done so I followed her downstairs to capture that, plus bridesmaids Emma & Nicola expertly tying the bouquets with neon ribbon! Hollie’s wonderful dad made all of the bouquets with help from the bridesmaids and his flower arranging teacher Susan Thorpe. And they were beautiful – such a great pop of colour against the lilac bridesmaid dresses.

Once Hollie’s hair was finished it was time for her to get dressed so we made our way back upstairs where her gown was waiting. I stayed to capture her dad and bridesmaids’ reactions to seeing her all ready for the first time, and then set off for the Chilli Barn.

I arrived in time to see some of the guests arriving and to get a couple of details of everything set up for the ceremony. Including the fab arch made by Hollie’s dad which he’d also decorated with flowers and eggs (of course!). The room was full of colour and looked beautiful. So much of the décor was handmade by Hollie and Ryan and their friends and family. Including the 700 pompoms Hollie & Ryan had spent months making back home in Canada (and briefly lost on the journey home the week before!).

Hollie arrived driven by her grandad and it was time to get hitched! In the blink of an eye Hollie & Ryan were married and walking back up the aisle as husband and wife! The wonderful team at The Chilli Barn were on hand to organise the confetti tunnel, with the confetti itself being dried bougainvillea which Hollie’s grand had picked in Greece – I love special touches like that.

Hollie and Ryan then led everyone around to the field at the back of the barn for drinks and canapés. After a bit of a break we got on with the family photos. We had plenty of time so Hollie, Ryan and the bridal party walked across the road and into the woods for some fun group photos. Even Maid of Honour Maddie who made the trek with a broken leg – commitment!

I kept hold of Hollie & Ryan whilst the others headed back to the barn and we spent 15 minutes or so wandering in the woods and getting some lovely sights of the two of them. They were pros!

I let Hollie & Ryan wander back to the barn alone whilst I powered on ahead to capture the marquee set up for the wedding breakfast before the speeches started. Again it was full of personal DIY touches, from the table names that Ryan had hand-cut, to the s’mores they put together as favours. And of course the ever-present pompoms!

Since it was such a glorious day that they did the speeches outside in the sun, with everyone sat on hay bales and the grass. It could have been July, such a perfect day! All of the speeches were fantastic and everyone in stitches.

Everyone made their way into the marquee then and I left them alone to eat. Plus I got to eat too, and the food at the Chilli barn is SO GOOD!). After dinner I grabbed Hollie & Ryan and drove them out to the Surprise View on The Chevin for some more photos. It was a touch windier than we’d expected but we got some lovely shots in the early evening sun and then headed back for the cake cutting and first dance.

It was such a beautiful evening that the dancing was pretty short-lived and everyone wandered back outside for drinks and pizza in the sun. That perfect light appeared as the sun dipped down behind the trees so I took Hollie & Ryan for one last quick photo session in the fields behind the barn. I stayed for sparklers at dusk and then left them all to enjoy their night in peace!

Huge thank you to Hollie & Ryan for trusting me to capture their wedding, and to Nicola & Ryan for recommending me! If you’re in need of a photographer for your wedding at The Chilli Barn please do contact me!
