Tithe Barn Wedding Photographs | Rain on your wedding day!

Tithe Barn Wedding Photographs

A Beautiful, Rainy Wedding at The Tithe Barn, Bolton Abbey.

Tithe Barn Wedding Photographs. Oh, where do I even begin with this wedding? It was one of those days that had a bit of everything—beautiful moments, a bit of chaos, plenty of laughs, and, of course, a rainstorm that tried its hardest to ruin the fun but ended up just making it all the more memorable. Beth and Alex’s wedding was awesome, and I’m so excited to share the highlights of their big day!

Getting Ready

Let’s start with the morning—Beth got ready at her gorgeous family home in Burnsall, which looked like something straight out of a Pinterest board! With the Yorkshire Dales as her backdrop, Beth got ready with her mum, brother, and her bridesmaids. The energy was so relaxed and full of love—it’s easy to see why Beth wanted to capture so many family moments in the garden before the ceremony.

Meanwhile, across the hills, Alex was getting ready in a farmhouse with his groomsmen and family, captured by my talented associate Lissa. The excitement was building on both sides—it was hard to tell who was more nervous, the bride or the groom!

The Ceremony

Now, let’s talk about the ceremony. Beth and Alex said their “I dos” at the beautiful Priory Church at Bolton Abbey. It’s a stunning church as you might imagine. The only challenge was that the rain had decided to make an appearance just as we were snapping photos of Beth in the garden. But hey, it wouldn’t be a true British wedding without a little rain, right?!

Beth’s wedding car also decided it was not going to make it to the church. Thankfully, a neighbour came to the rescue in a vintage car, and I have to say, it was the perfect little moment of comedy relief. She arrived at the church looking absolutely stunning, and nothing was going to stop her from having the day she’d dreamed of.

The ceremony itself was magical. We had to photograph it from the back, which is always a bit tricky, but honestly, the church’s beauty more than made up for it. Afterward, we grabbed a big group photo in the church porch, followed by family and bridal party shots. Always good to find a church with a wet weather contingency!

The Tithe Barn & Drinks Reception

With everyone heading off to the Tithe Barn for the reception, we kept Beth and Alex for a few quiet moments in the church before they made their way to the barn. The Tithe Barn at Bolton Abbey is one of my absolute favourite venues—it’s got this perfect combination of rustic charm and cozy elegance. The weather still wasn’t playing ball of course, so the drinks reception had to be held indoors. But the barn’s cozy atmosphere made it feel like the rain was just adding to the romance of the day.

Speeches & Photos

The speeches were a riot—Beth’s mum, Alex, the best man, and the maid of honour all had their moment in the spotlight. There were plenty of tears, a lot of laughter, and just enough cheeky anecdotes to make the crowd roar with laughter. But once the speeches were done and dusted, the best part was yet to come—the rain stopped!

We dashed outside, the guests lined up, and the couple made their way through a sea of confetti. We also got that big group photo at the back of the barn, everyone smiling, happy, and relieved the rain had finally given us a break. The rain had turned the field at the front of the barn into a bit of an obstacle course—hello, sheep poo! But Beth & Alex were absolute troopers, and I captured so many beautiful moments of them together (in between dodging nature’s little landmines!).

Cake Cutting & First Dance

The evening wrapped up with Beth and Alex cutting their cake and sharing their first dance. After that, the rest of the guests joined in, and the dance floor was packed! The energy was electric, and it was the perfect way to end a beautiful, unforgettable day.

From start to finish, it was one of those weddings where every moment felt so personal and full of joy. The rain couldn’t put a damper on anything—if anything, it made everything a little more magical. Beth and Alex, you guys were absolute legends, and I couldn’t be happier for you both!
