Wedding Photographer at Woodlands Hotel | Laura & Dan

Wedding Photographer at Woodlands Hotel. My second wedding at Woodlands Hotel in as many weeks! Slightly different weather for Laura & Dan’s big day though, we spent a lot of it dodging the showers.

I spent the morning with Laura and her bridesmaids who were getting ready at Oulton Hall, and then we all headed to Outwood Church for the ceremony. I made it there a bit before the bridal party in time to get some shots of the church and to see everyone arriving. Typically the heavens opened just as Laura pulled up, but then I do love the shot of her walking up the path to the church under her umbrella with everyone trying to save her dress from the wet floor – moments like that make a wedding for me!

After the service the rain was still going strong so we all hoped into our various cars and made our way to Woodlands. The showers were on and/off again for the rest of the afternoon – happily Laura & Dan chose to embrace it, and more importantly, came prepared! They grabbed a very bridal brolly and we spent the next 90 minutes with one eye on the sky and nipping in and out between downpours!

Laura had chosen a colour palette of white and greens, and I adored the mint green bridesmaid dresses next to the simple white hydrangea bouquets. I also loved the combination of tall and short vases as centrepieces in the marquee, all filled with garden roses, hydrangea, lisianthus, eucalyptus and dusty miller leaves. And make sure you scroll down for the cake table –  one kind of dessert is never enough in my opinion!

Speeches were before the meal – great idea if your speakers are nervous, gets the horrific bit out of the way so they can enjoy their food! The rain had finally eased up by that point, so after the wedding breakfast I grabbed Laura & Dan for another stroll around the grounds. They also had their gorgeous little Yorkshire Terrier Max brought in for a quick visit and a photo or two, and he looked completely adorable in his little bow tie! And just like that it was inside for the cake cutting and first dance. These guys were not hugely keen on that last part, so it was a very brief spin around the dance floor before they pulled everyone else in to join them!

Huge thanks to Laura & Dan for asking me to photograph their beautiful wedding, and please do contact me if you’re getting married at Woodlands Hotel and are looking for a photographer! x

I live near Ilkley with my slightly* nutty 9 year old Rose, and I have had the honour of photographing weddings and families for 11 years now. I genuinely cannot believe how lucky I am that I get to call this my job.

*she once told me that traffic lights are the bane of her life, and she went through a phase of naming everything "Cantameen". Send help!

I love photographing people. Whether it's your wedding day, you're expecting or have just had a baby, or you simply want to capture your loved ones the way they are right now, my aim is to document unique moments in time to create a beautiful set of images that you will treasure for many years to come. My style combines photojournalism with beautiful portraits, and my fun and relaxed approach makes you feel comfortable and at ease in front of the camera – I want you to actually enjoy having your photograph taken!

Although I’m based near Ilkley I cover all of Yorkshire and I’m actually happy to travel anywhere for weddings and portrait shoots.
