Woodlands Hotel Wedding Photographer Leeds | Katy & Steven

Woodlands Hotel Wedding Photographer. I love this little gem of a venue! Woodlands is a boutique hotel surrounded by it’s own woodland (surprise!) and beautifully landscaped gardens. The bridal suite where I met up with Katy and her mum and bridesmaids has recently been renovated and is so light and airy, prefect for photos! It was lovely to catch up with the super talented Anna Stephenson who was in charge of hair and make up for all the girls.

Katy’s gorgeous Wtoo by Watters gown was hanging on the wardrobe just waiting for me! The colour was perfectly complimented by the peach bridesmaids dresses and Katy’s rose gold shoes, and also by the beautiful bouquets by Bluebell Florists. Katy has the most amazing hair (I am always filled with hair envy at weddings!) and I loved the boho style she went for, with lots of loose waves and a beautiful headpiece by Ivory and co.

When hair and make up were pretty much there, I nipped down to photograph the ceremony room all set up. I timed it just right and got to say a quick hello to Steven and to capture him and some of the guests grabbing a quick drink and attempting buttonhole placement! Then it was back up to see Katy get into her dress (as I’ve probably mentioned a zillion times, I love this bit!). Everything was running unusually to time so we managed a few photos with Katy’s parents and bridesmaids and then it was time for the main event.

After the ceremony (which was full of giggles!), Kay and Steven walked back up the aisle and everyone headed outside for drinks on the terrace in the summer sun; success! We ran through some relaxed group photos and then I left everyone to chat and enjoy some more drinks and canapés whilst I got some shots of everything ready for the wedding breakfast in the marquee. I love photographing marquee receptions (whether stand alone or attached to a building, like this one!) as the light is always so soft and airy thanks to the white walls and ceilings. The tables were covered with vases of all sizes, filled with gypsophila and roses in keeping with the cream and peach colour scheme. Then it was time for one of my other favourite parts of the day – my time with the bride and groom! I managed to separate Katy & Steven from their guests, (but not their drinks, that would be cruel!) and whisked the off around the gardens. These guys were absolute naturals and we got some gorgeous relaxed and romantic photographs. My favourites are the ones on the stairs, and also the ones of Katy looking incredible on the path under the trees (the light under there is perfect!).

And just like that it was time to head inside. The speeches were before the meal (so the speakers could actually relax enough to enjoy their food!), and were both hilarious and very moving. After the meal everyone headed outside to relax in the garden whilst the amazing staff at Woodlands got the marquee changed around for the evening reception at lightning speed (they have had a bit of practice I suppose). And then it was first dance o’clock! Loved how much these guys embraced this moment, and then broke out some serious moves! 😀

Big thanks to Katy and Steven for asking me to photograph their wedding, I had a blast! And if you’re looking for a Woodlands Hotel wedding photographer then please do get in touch, I’d love to hear from you! x
