Wedding Photographer at Denton Hall | Tamsin & Nick

Wedding Photographer at Denton Hall | Tamsin & Nick

Wedding Photographer at Denton Hall. October saw me back at one of my most favourite venues; Denton Hall. Tamsin & Nick had booked me the previous Autumn, and I was so excited when their wedding finally came around – these guys love Autumn as much as me and I couldn’t wait to see what they had planned!

I joined Tamsin and her bridesmaids and family at her parent’s home in Ilkley and found the house full of noise and laughter – just how it should be on a wedding morning! Everyone was mid hair and make up, so I pottered from room to room capturing everything going on plus all the lovely details (including Tamsin’s stunning Ian Stuart gown, heaven!). Tamsin and her mum had made the incredible bouquets themselves and filled them with seasonal flowers and leaves in yummy autumn tones, which perfectly complimented the bridesmaids dresses which were deep red, rust and taupe.

I was assisted on the day by the fab Eleanor Woodruff, and she spent the morning with the guys at Denton Hall whilst they got ready and handed out gifts (wedding socks in a perfect rust orange, made by Tamsin’s dad!). They all then headed to the church in time to see the guests arriving. Make sure you check out all the gorgeous autumn details that Tamsin and Nick had filled the church with – acorns, pine cones and leaves they had collected the previous year, and a gorgeous foliage arch at the bottom of the aisle.

Once Tamsin was dressed we went out into the garden for a few family photos and then I quickly made my way to the church to join Eleanor and the guys. Whilst Eleanor was inside the church capturing all the guests excitedly chatting I waited outside to see Tamsin and her dad arrive. Then I legged it down the aisle so that I could be in place to see her make her way down the aisle to Nick.

Tamsin and her mother own the Wright Theatre Arts Dance Academy in Ilkley and are both incredible professional dancers. So dance was bound to be a big theme for this wedding! They had choreographed and taught a beautiful ballet routine to some of their students who performed this in the aisle as Tamsin and her bridesmaids made their way down. Cuteness overload! Tamsin has a particular love of Bollywood dance form her time in India and had choreographed another routine for some of her older students to perform for the congregation whilst the register was being signed.

After the ceremony Tamsin and Nick boogied their way back up the aisle and headed outside for a blast of seasonal confetti! They said a few hello’s to their friends and family back in the church over drinks, and then I followed them up to The Cow and Calf Rocks for some portraits overlooking Ilkley and the surrounding countryside. It was surprisingly busy for October but we found a perfect spot below the rocks and got some gorgeous shots before jumping back in our cars and making our way to Denton. We made another brief stop en route for some shots on one of the roads near Denton which has a great view of the hall in the distance.

Once we arrived at Denton I left the happy couple to grab and drink and chat properly to their friends and family (under Eleanor’s watchful eye!) whilst I went inside to photograph all of the amazing autumn details that Tamsin and Nick had organised. From the floral displays in pumpkins to the hanging pine cones on the staircase and autumn leaves on every surface, no detail was overlooked and it looked incredible.

The weather looked to be taking a bad turn and we made it through a few group photos before the showers started, and then headed inside for some on the stairs with the wedding party. The drizzle eased off so we took our chances and got everyone outside for the bouquet toss and a group photos on the stairs and then it was time for the receiving line.

Speeches were after the meal, and were hilarious! Tamsin’s sister also read out a poem that she had written about Tamsin & Nick and their relationship to this point, which again was so funny and very touching.

After the speeches Eleanor and I took Tamsin and Nick to the top of the amazing staircase at Denton to get a shot of them under the chandelier, and then it was time for the cake cutting and first dance. I wasn’t at all surprised to see most of the room join Tamsin & Nick on the dance floor – this crowd had some serious moves! The dance theme continued with a Bollywood flashmob – the dancers from the church reappeared and took over the dance floor, shortly followed by Tamsin and Nick, the wedding party and their immediate families. This was my very first wedding flashmob – happily I’d been warned and was casually in position on the reception desk when it started 😀

My night was finished with a sparkler shot or two, after which Eleanor and I said our goodbyes and left everyone to boogie. Thank you so much for Tamsin & Nick for asking me to capture their wedding, everyone was so welcoming and I had so much fun!
