Wentbridge House Wedding Photography | Bridie + Sam.

Wentbridge House Wedding Photography. Bridie and Sam had a beautiful outdoor ceremony at Wentbridge House Hotel. There was a brief moment of panic when it chucked it down about 15 minutes before the ceremony but luckily it was the shortest rain shower in history and the sun came out to dry the seats off before people sat down (sort of!).

I met up with Bridie and her bridesmaids, family and two adorable flower girls at Wentbridge a few hours before the ceremony. Everyone was getting ready in the same room which is always great for candid photos – I love a busy bridal prep! I took Bridie’s dress and shoes and so on to the room next door for some photos without clutter! Then I stayed with the girls to get loads of shots of them all finishing off hair and makeup, and a few glasses of fizz, obviously! The flower girls Lily and Rose were in their element with an attentive audience, plus a massive bed to bounce on!

I nipped outside to get photos of the ceremony set up on the lawn before heading in to see Bridie to get into her dress. It was just as she was putting on her jewellery that the heavens opened and I glimpsed the guests who had already arrived dashing inside. Bridie had one of those “I’m not going to panic but it had better EFFING well stop raining soon!” looks about her, and I guess somebody listened because the rain vanished as quickly as it had started and everyone began pouring back out into the sun.

We let Bridie’s bridesmaids and dad in to see her when she was ready to go and then I made my way down to see Sam before the ceremony started. We were running a bit behind in bridal HQ so everyone was seated when I got down there but I managed a few candid shots of Sam and his best man before Bridie and co made their entrance. Bridie looked amazing walking down the aisle in the sunshine and Sam was pretty overwhelmed! It was a beautiful service and before long Bridie and Sam were walking back up the aisle as husband and wife, whilst being pelted with confetti!

Bridie and Sam had organised an ice cream van to be waiting for everyone after the ceremony, so whilst guests grabbed a ’99 we whipped through (pun intended!) the group photos. Under a large tree because the sky did that typically British thing where it looks like it could absolutely pee down any second. But it didn’t.

Sam was keen to test his ice cream making skills so we headed over to the van and, as it turns out, he doesn’t have any! Apparently it’s harder than it looks haha! Whilst Bridie and Sam enjoyed an ice cream with their friends and family I nipped inside to get some shots of the wedding breakfast set up. Then it was time for me to drag the newlyweds away for some shots of just the two of them. Which they absolutely nailed! Complete naturals – so relaxed with each other they made my job so easy! We managed a shot of everyone on the lawn and then it was time to head in for the speeches. Everyone was pretty nervous, especially best man Matt, but the speeches were brilliant and the room was in stitches. Until Matt went and teared up and then half the room began bawling haha!

There was a nice break before the first dance so people took their drinks outside or went to check in, or enjoyed a bit of welly wanging across the gardens, as you do! The sun started to go down and turned that lovely shade of yellow that we photographers love! It looked to be heading for the treeline so I grabbed Bridie and Sam and we headed up to the field behind Wentbridge for some shots before we lost the light.

Soon the evening reception started and it was time for Bridie and Sam to cut the cake, and then of course the first dance. The DJ was ace and had people crowding the dance floor for quite a while before the father-daughter dance with Bridie and her dad. Not something I see very often but it is such a sweet moment! The dance floor filled up again so I got a few more party shots before leaving them to it!

Enormous thank you to Bridie and Sam for asking me to capture their wedding, and if you’re planning a wedding at Wentbridge House Hotel please do contact me, I’d love to hear more!

I live near Ilkley with my slightly* nutty 9 year old Rose, and I have had the honour of photographing weddings and families for 11 years now. I genuinely cannot believe how lucky I am that I get to call this my job.

*she once told me that traffic lights are the bane of her life, and she went through a phase of naming everything "Cantameen". Send help!

I love photographing people. Whether it's your wedding day, you're expecting or have just had a baby, or you simply want to capture your loved ones the way they are right now, my aim is to document unique moments in time to create a beautiful set of images that you will treasure for many years to come. My style combines photojournalism with beautiful portraits, and my fun and relaxed approach makes you feel comfortable and at ease in front of the camera – I want you to actually enjoy having your photograph taken!

Although I’m based near Ilkley I cover all of Yorkshire and I’m actually happy to travel anywhere for weddings and portrait shoots.
