Crab & Lobster Wedding Photos | Melissa + James.

Crab & Lobster Wedding Photos. Melissa and James booked me for their wedding at the Crab and Lobster nearly 2 years ago, and we’d met up for their engagement shoot over a year ago, so I was very excited when their big day finally arrived!

I joined Melissa and the girls in Montauk – one of the fab log cabins you can stay in at the Crab and Lobster. Melissa was having her makeup done by Amy George, and Tina Oliver was in charge of everyone’s hair. I popped in to say hello to everyone and got a few detail shots of Melissa’s shoes and amazing bouquets by River and Rose. Her dress was being hand-delivered by Victoria from Victoria Robson Bridal (excellent service!) and so it arrived a bit later on. I spent the next hour or so in “stealth mode” capturing candid shots of Melissa having her makeup finished off and everyone enjoying a glass of bubbly. I nipped over to Crab Manor to see James and the guys donning button holes, and to get some shots of the conservatory set up for the ceremony.

Soon it was time for me to head back to Montauk to get some shots of Melissa’s incredible gown and of Melissa having her hair finished. Before long it was time for Melissa to get dressed with the help of her mum and the lovely Victoria. Melissa looked SO beautiful and I think everyone was a bit overwhelmed to see it all come together. Her dad came in to get his first look at her already to go and then I wandered back up to the main house for the ceremony.

Melissa and her dress just about fit down the aisle! And she was absolutely beaming the whole time – she has one of those smiles that makes everyone else smile! It was a lovely ceremony; emotional but also full of giggles! Melissa and James walked back up the aisle and into the lounge to grab a drink and say hello to their guests. I always love these first greetings after the ceremony; they make for great candid shots of very happy friends and relatives!

Melissa and James spent a bit of time with their guests enjoying drinks and canapés and then we headed outside for a quick confetti shot since it wasn’t raining! We stayed outside for some group photos and then Melissa, James and I took a wander in the (slightly waterlogged!) gardens for some shots of the two of them, and of Melissa in that amazing dress. #traingoals! I knew that this would be James’s least favourite part of the day (quote from their engagement shoot: “yeah I’m OK, I’m just dying inside”)! But it seemed like the engagement shoot did it’s job perfectly because they relaxed into it like total pros and I even got a couple of shots of James on his own!

We made our way back up to Crab Manor to rejoin the drinks reception. It was a lovely long reception actually, about 2 hours, which meant I had lots of time for the more candid shots of Melissa, James and their guests which people are always keen for. Plus lots of lovely detail shots down at the restaurant where everything was set up for the wedding breakfast.

It was then time for everyone else to make their way down to the restaurant for dinner and speeches. I kept Melissa & James up at Crab Manor for a quick shot of the two of them in the lounge and then went down to take my place for their arrival. Speeches were split up with a couple before the starters and a couple before dessert. Melissa and James had also booked Craig Bevan to perform during dinner – highly recommend him if you’re looking for a musician for your wedding! After dinner the evening guests started to arrive then everyone moved to the bar to let the staff at the Crab and Lobster turn the room around for the party. The room was packed for Melissa and James’s first dance and after a few songs (on the jukebox -another great idea!) we nipped outside for some sparkler shots before it was time for me to let them to enjoy the rest of their night.

As always huge thank you to Melissa and James for trusting me to photograph your wedding. If you’re looking for a photographer for your wedding at the Crab and Lobster please do get in touch, I’d love to hear more!

I live near Ilkley with my slightly* nutty 9 year old Rose, and I have had the honour of photographing weddings and families for 11 years now. I genuinely cannot believe how lucky I am that I get to call this my job.

*she once told me that traffic lights are the bane of her life, and she went through a phase of naming everything "Cantameen". Send help!

I love photographing people. Whether it's your wedding day, you're expecting or have just had a baby, or you simply want to capture your loved ones the way they are right now, my aim is to document unique moments in time to create a beautiful set of images that you will treasure for many years to come. My style combines photojournalism with beautiful portraits, and my fun and relaxed approach makes you feel comfortable and at ease in front of the camera – I want you to actually enjoy having your photograph taken!

Although I’m based near Ilkley I cover all of Yorkshire and I’m actually happy to travel anywhere for weddings and portrait shoots. So if you have any questions then please get in touch using one of my contact forms. In the meantime, grab a cuppa and browse through my wedding or portrait galleries, or take a look at my most recent work on the blog.

I can't wait to hear from you x
