Fig House Middleton Lodge Wedding. We had quite the mix of weather for Lora & James’s wedding at Middleton Lodge! We started the day boiling hot with some glorious sunshine for their ceremony and drinks reception at The Fig House. Lora wasn’t keen on photos whilst she was getting ready, so I joined James & the guys as the guests were arriving for lots of candid shots and a couple of group pics of the boys. I got some shots of The Fig House set up for the ceremony and then everyone was seated and we waited for Laura to make her entrance. Sadly her dad was unable to attend due to illness so Laura walked down the aisle solo which I so admire.
The ceremony seemed to be over in a flash as so often happens, and it was back outside into the sun for drinks and canapés. Lora & James opted for no confetti so they could get straight into greeting their guests and having a drink and something to eat. I let then have a nice long break before grabbing them for group photos. We weren’t sure about the weather at this point so we jumped straight into some photos of the two of them just in case. The gardens in the Fig House are designed to look great all year, but really shine in June when all of the roses, foxgloves, geraniums and Astrantia are blooming. Lora & James were complete naturals and we got loads of great shots of them in amongst the flowers before we all started to overheat a bit and took a break! I continued getting candid shots of their friends and family before nipping down to the main house to get some shots of the marquee ready for the wedding breakfast.
The guests then made their way from the Fig House to the marquee, so I headed in the opposite direction to get some more couple photos of Lora and James in the Fig House Gardens now that the sun had gone in. The sky looked so ominous though so we made it quick and then the staff at Middleton drove us down to the main house so we could dash into the marquee. Lora & James were announced to huge cheers, and the heavens opened just as they took their seats. I cannot believe how lucky we were! The rain and thunder were so loud that we had to postpone the speeches until after the meal as nobody could hear them even with a mic!
I left them in peace to eat and then made my way back after dessert for the speeches. Thankfully the rain had stopped so the speeches could go on at last, and they were fab. Lora’s brother read her dad’s speech for her as he couldn’t be there himself which was so emotional. Lora also made a small speech which was great; I always love it when the bride says a few words too.
After speeches everyone headed back up to the house to relax for a bit before the evening reception. Lora & James had also organised Crazy Golf on the lawns to keep people entertained. The evening guests arrived at the Fig House and enjoyed a drink in the gardens there before making their way down to the main house for garden games and then it was into the marquee for party time.
Lora & James kicked things off with their first dance, which was choreographed – hoorah! They claimed to not be dancers but they did an ace job and then the dance floor filled up nicely!
Thanks you Lora & James for asking me to photograph your wedding at Middleton Lodge, it seemed like so long ago that we’d first chatted that it was amazing to see you have your big day at last! If you’re looking for a photographer for your Fig House Middleton Lodge wedding please do get in touch x
