Newby Hall Wedding Photographer | Sarah & Pete

Newby Hall Wedding Photographer. I knew I was going to get on well with this pair as soon as I read Sarah’s first email, in which she told me that they have a Dachshund called Steve – friendship sealed! Alas no pooches were allowed in Newby Hall but I did get to meet him on their engagement shoot and if course fell instantly in love! I’m sad to say that I still don’t have a faithful sausage dog of my very own, but then I do have a 4 year old and frankly living with one Napoleon is more than enough for now 😀

Sarah & Pete were married at Newby Hall on what started out as a beautiful and sunny Saturday in May! I joined Sarah at The Bridge Hotel in Wetherby where she was getting ready with her mum and bridesmaids. The always amazing Lauren Rippin was in charge of hair and make up – if you’re looking for a make up artist and hair stylist for your wedding then look no further, she’s completely brilliant (I say that as a photographer and a client!). Preparations ran like a dream and before I knew it Sarah was ready and looking incredible, and it was time for me to make my way to Newby Hall.

I was assisted by Brigitta from Avenue White Photography who waited to meet the boys downstairs whilst I went up with Sarah and co for a few photos before the ceremony. The ceremony itself took place in the library, which is an incredible room (just like every other room there!), and Lucy Wright ran everything to perfection.

After the ceremony Sarah & Pete excited in a storm of confetti and we whizzed through a few group photos before heading out into the grounds for some shots of just the two of them.

The gardens at Newby are incredible; I could’ve spent hours there! And I was extra excited to be able to photograph at Newby in May because I knew there would be so many beautiful flowers around. But I managed to control myself (more or less, ha!) and we made for the laburnum walk, which I knew would be in full bloom, and happily (for me at least!) stumbled across some amazing rhododendrons on the way. That was when the weather took a turn and we dashed back up the lawn to the hall where Sarah & Pete’s friends and family were enjoying drinks and canapés inside.

Showers seemed to be forecast for the next few hours but Lucy had provided a seemingly endless supply of umbrellas so we managed a quick shot of everyone on the lawn before making our way down to the miniature railway. We all piled onto the train and took a spin around the gardens to many cheers and whoops from the (sometimes confused!) Newby visitors, which made for some great photos! Then it was time to make our way back to the hall and head off to The Bridge Inn Wetherby for the reception.

Once we arrived there was time for everyone to grab another drink whilst I did a quick loop around the Byron Suite which was already all set up for dinner. The beautiful centerpieces by Claire Slater went perfectly with the pale green walls of the room. And I of course loved the little photos of Steve on each table 😀

After the email it was speech time, which I LOVE! These guys did not disappoint and were all hilarious. A quick cut of the cake (which Sarah made herself – skillz, yo!) and it was time for a bit of a break before the party started.

Well I think I’ve waffled enough! Great big thank you to Sarah & Pete for asking me to document their wedding, I had such a wonderful time!

I live near Ilkley with my slightly* nutty 9 year old Rose, and I have had the honour of photographing weddings and families for 11 years now. I genuinely cannot believe how lucky I am that I get to call this my job.

*she once told me that traffic lights are the bane of her life, and she went through a phase of naming everything "Cantameen". Send help!

I love photographing people. Whether it's your wedding day, you're expecting or have just had a baby, or you simply want to capture your loved ones the way they are right now, my aim is to document unique moments in time to create a beautiful set of images that you will treasure for many years to come. My style combines photojournalism with beautiful portraits, and my fun and relaxed approach makes you feel comfortable and at ease in front of the camera – I want you to actually enjoy having your photograph taken!

Although I’m based near Ilkley I cover all of Yorkshire and I’m actually happy to travel anywhere for weddings and portrait shoots. So if you have any questions then please get in touch using one of my contact forms. In the meantime, grab a cuppa and browse through my wedding or portrait galleries, or take a look at my most recent work on the blog.

I can't wait to hear from you x
