Orangery at Settrington Wedding Photography | Hannah & Kiran

Orangery at Settrington Wedding Photography. What a glorious day we had for Hannah & Kiran’s wedding at the Orangery – this was my first wedding here and it did not disappoint!

I’d met up with Hannah & Kiran back in November for their engagement shoot on the Harewood Estate in Leeds and they were complete naturals (though I’m sure they’d disagree!). So often couples tell me that they don’t feel comfortable in front of the camera and I always say it’s mostly important to be comfortable with each other, the rest will come! And these guys really were.

I spent a couple of hours with Hannah and her bridesmaids at the beautiful cottage on the Settrington Estate where they were getting ready with the help of Catherine Elizabeth and her amazing team.

Apparently there was another wedding taking place somewhere in the south of the country on the same day, hmmm. The couple’s name slips my mind but I guess they must be important because they were all over the TV hair and make up halted to catch this less important bride walk down the aisle!

I was joined again by the lovely Lissa who met up with Kiran & co in Malton before heading over to Settrington Church for a few group photos and to see everyone else arrive.

Once Hannah was dressed I made my way to the church to say hi to Kiran and get in place for Hannah’s arrival. And by that I mean wait for her to walk the 10 meters from the cottage to the church – very convenient!

Happily their vicar was fine with me being at the front of the church during the ceremony (always something to check with the vicar beforehand! I am very discreet!) which was great because it meant that Lissa and I could cover two different angles throughout the service.

After the ceremony everyone piled out for a confetti tunnel down the church path and then we all walked around to the orangery for drinks and canapés on the lawn.

Lissa captured some informal shots of the guests whilst I whipped through the group photos, and then it was time to take Hannah & Kiran for some photos of their own. We were absolutely spoiled for choice at The Orangery, but I had visited a few weeks before and picked out some favourite spots!

About 20 minutes later I reigned myself in(!) and returned the happy couple to their friends and family whilst I went inside to see The Orangery decked out for the wedding breakfast. The beautiful centrepieces were by Take A Leaf Florist in Stamford Bridge, and I particularly loved the personalised Gin favours 😀

Before long we were all inside and Hannah & Kiran made their entrance for the speeches and FOOD. After dinner the we were treated to more glorious evening sun (bit of a theme for 2018!) so we nipped out into the gardens again for some more photos.

Hannah & Kiran had booked a brilliant ceilidh band, Edinburgh Sounds, for the evening do and they performed a mixture of ceilidh music (with instructors, obviously!) and modern covers. If you’re thinking of a ceilidh for your evening reception I really recommend these guys, they’re super talented but also the mixture of songs worked really well to keep people dancing (and less sweaty haha!).

Really big thank you to Hannah & Kiran for booking me to capture their wedding, it was an amazing day! And of course to Lissa for being a wonderful second shooter, again!

I live near Ilkley with my slightly* nutty 9 year old Rose, and I have had the honour of photographing weddings and families for 11 years now. I genuinely cannot believe how lucky I am that I get to call this my job.

*she once told me that traffic lights are the bane of her life, and she went through a phase of naming everything "Cantameen". Send help!

I love photographing people. Whether it's your wedding day, you're expecting or have just had a baby, or you simply want to capture your loved ones the way they are right now, my aim is to document unique moments in time to create a beautiful set of images that you will treasure for many years to come. My style combines photojournalism with beautiful portraits, and my fun and relaxed approach makes you feel comfortable and at ease in front of the camera – I want you to actually enjoy having your photograph taken!

Although I’m based near Ilkley I cover all of Yorkshire and I’m actually happy to travel anywhere for weddings and portrait shoots.
