Outdoor Wedding Photography Wood Hall | Holly & Stefan

Outdoor Wedding Photography Wood Hall. So this is another huge blog post, sorry! But not really sorry because these guys are awesome and their wedding was a beaut and I want you to see it! 😀

I joined Holly and her bridesmaids plus the mum’s at Rudding Park where they were getting ready in one of the lodges. And it was p***ing down! I mean full on torrential downpour. Things were not looking good for the outdoor ceremony haha! But we needn’t have worried, it cleared not long after I arrived and the Great Heat Wave of 2018 had fully reinstated itself by the time we got to Wood Hall.

Whilst Holly was having her hair and make up done in the bridal suite I grabbed some detail shots of the dresses and then headed back in to the madness to capture all the girls finishing getting ready. Busy mornings are my favourite kind! Meanwhile my second shooter Lissa (love her!) had spent the morning with Stefan and the guys over in Easingwold where they were getting ready, before following them to Wood Hall to get some shots of the ceremony set up and guests arriving.

Once Holly was dressed we let her dad (a legend!) in to see the final look (it went down well!) and then I made my way down into the sweltering heat to meet Lissa and get in place for the ceremony. This was my first outdoor ceremony at Wood Hall and it couldn’t have been better weather (ok maybe a “little” cooler would have been nice!), with perfect views across the surrounding countryside.

Holly & Stefan were bombed with confetti as they walked back up the aisle at the end of the ceremony, and then drinks and canapés were served out in front of the hotel. After a few group photos I took Holly & Stefan for a spin around the gardens and we got loads of lovely photos of the two of them. We hadn’t done an engagement shoot but as it turned out these two were complete naturals and got into the spirit straight away! Holly looked amazing in her Dando London gown – completely in love with that train! And her hair and make up were perfect thanks to Charlotte MacDonald and Georgia Dixon.

I made my way inside to the Vavasour Suite to get some details shots including some of the gorgeous cake by Poppy Pickering. If you’re still on the hunt for a wedding cake then look no further! Dominique’s cakes are always exquisite plus they taste amazing! I was ecstatic to find the room was air conditioned(!), and it wasn’t long before everyone was called in for the wedding breakfast and Holly and Stefan made their entrance.

Speeches followed the meal and then a grabbed my chance to get some shots of Holly & Stefan on the staircase before the evening reception started. All too soon it was time for the first dance (and the father-daughter dance which I don’t see often but I always love it when I do!) and then the party really started. And this lot knew how to party!

Enormous thank you to Holly & Stefan for trusting me to capture their wedding, it was an incredible day! And to Lissa for being my amazing second shooter (again!) x

I live near Ilkley with my slightly* nutty 9 year old Rose, and I have had the honour of photographing weddings and families for 11 years now. I genuinely cannot believe how lucky I am that I get to call this my job.

*she once told me that traffic lights are the bane of her life, and she went through a phase of naming everything "Cantameen". Send help!

I love photographing people. Whether it's your wedding day, you're expecting or have just had a baby, or you simply want to capture your loved ones the way they are right now, my aim is to document unique moments in time to create a beautiful set of images that you will treasure for many years to come. My style combines photojournalism with beautiful portraits, and my fun and relaxed approach makes you feel comfortable and at ease in front of the camera – I want you to actually enjoy having your photograph taken!

Although I’m based near Ilkley I cover all of Yorkshire and I’m actually happy to travel anywhere for weddings and portrait shoots. So if you have any questions then please get in touch using one of my contact forms. In the meantime, grab a cuppa and browse through my wedding or portrait galleries, or take a look at my most recent work on the blog.

I can't wait to hear from you x
