Wood Hall Wedding | Sally & Rob

A Spring Wedding at Wood Hall Hotel Leeds | Sally & Rob

Wood Hall wedding photography. Sally & Rob were married at St Oswald’s church in Collingham and then headed to Wood Hall Hotel for their reception. I’m not going to lie, the forecast did not look good! It was predicted to pour with rain ALL DAY. But by some miracle is turned to drizzle by ceremony time and then stayed dry from when we reached Wood Hall!

I joined Sally & her bridesmaids at her home Collingham were I was so excited to be working with two of my favourite ladies – Lauren Rippin on make up and Harriet Steele on hair! I photographed all the lovely details of Sally’s dress, shoes and so on, and then we spent a fab couple of hours laughing and chatting whilst I captured hair and make up coming together.

The two little page boys then arrived and stole the show for a while as they looked so gorgeous in their bow ties and shiny shoes which they kept showing off! Soon it was time for Sally to get dressed and then I was on my way to the church. Where I smoothly managed to get my car stuck in mud in the car park and block in one of the bridesmaids’ husbands, hoorah!

No time to worry about that though so I abandoned my car and made my way in to the church to say hi to Rob & the guys. Sally arrived not long after me and then it was ceremony time. Sadly I had to stay at the back of the church, but at least it was quite a short aisle so I wasn’t miles away from the action! It was also lovely to be able to see Rob’s reaction as Sally walked down the aisle towards him.

After the ceremony we tentatively stuck our heads outside to find the rain had slowed so Sally & Rob grabbed some brollies (which briefly confused one of the groomsmen; brollies can be tricky ;-)) and headed out to greet their guests as they made their way to their cars and on to Wood Hall.

Amazingly I managed to get my car out of the mud with some help from a guest and I was on my way to Wood Hall! Once we realised the rain had actually stopped and we weren’t dreaming it I quickly took Sally & Rob out into the gardens for some photos of the two of them just in case the heavens opened again. These guys were absolute pros at this and made it look so effortless, just happy to be together and freshly married which was a joy to see! The weather seemed to be on our side still so we got everyone out for a confetti tunnel and then whipped through the group photos before I nipped inside to get some shots of the Vavasour Suite set up for the wedding breakfast. Kate Mell had done an amazing job with all the flowers as always, and Sally had baked and decorated her own wedding cakes.

The guests soon filed in and Sally & Rob were announced to great cheers and applause from the crowd. Speeches were up first and were all hilarious, and then it was time for food. After the meal I grabbed Sally & Rob for a few more photos as I wanted to get some of them on the staircase which had been covered in the most beautiful blooms by Kate Mell.

It wasn’t long before the room was turned around for the party and Sally & Rob kicked things off with their cake cutting and first dance. I stayed for a few shots of them dancing with their friends and family and then it was time for me to head home.

Huge thanks to Sally & Rob for choosing me to photograph your wedding at Wood Hall!

I live near Ilkley with my slightly* nutty 9 year old Rose, and I have had the honour of photographing weddings and families for 11 years now. I genuinely cannot believe how lucky I am that I get to call this my job.

*she once told me that traffic lights are the bane of her life, and she went through a phase of naming everything "Cantameen". Send help!

I love photographing people. Whether it's your wedding day, you're expecting or have just had a baby, or you simply want to capture your loved ones the way they are right now, my aim is to document unique moments in time to create a beautiful set of images that you will treasure for many years to come. My style combines photojournalism with beautiful portraits, and my fun and relaxed approach makes you feel comfortable and at ease in front of the camera – I want you to actually enjoy having your photograph taken!

Although I’m based near Ilkley I cover all of Yorkshire and I’m actually happy to travel anywhere for weddings and portrait shoots. In the meantime, grab a cuppa and browse through my wedding or portrait galleries, or take a look at my most recent work on the blog.

I can't wait to hear from you x
