Woodstock Weddings Photography York | Amy & John
Woodstock Weddings Photography. This was Amy & John’s third wedding date thanks to you-know-what, and it was amazing to see them married at last at the fabulous Woodstock Weddings outside York!
Amy & her bridesmaids were getting ready at a lovely little cottage in Alne and preparations were well underway when I arrived. The house was full of noise and laughter and I spent a really relaxed couple of hours with them capturing Amy’s beautiful Morilee dress and other little details, then catching everyone finishing off hair and make up and enjoying a quick breakfast before it was time to get dressed. The rain started just as we were ready for a few photos in the garden (classic), so we skipped that and I headed over to Woodstock to say hi to John and the guys and get some shots of the barn before everyone took their seats. I was very excited to see Emma & Paul whose wedding I’d photographed at The Yorkshire Wedding Barn almost 5 years before – cannot believe it had been that long already!
Amy arrived in plenty of time so everyone took their seats and waited for her to make her entrance. The flower girls looked so gorgeous as they confidently walked down the aisle first, spreading petals as they went. Amy was absolutely beaming as she walked towards John, and throughout the whole ceremony. I loved their readings, neither of which I’d heard at a wedding before which is quite an achievement! My favourite of course being the quotes from Harry Potter.
Amy & John walked back up the aisle and outside into the spring sunshine where they grabbed a drink and greeted all of their friends and family with hugs and massive smiles. We organised a confetti tunnel and then ran through some group photos. They had quite a long reception which was great because it meant we could take our time with the photos but that Amy & John could still chat properly to their guests. I also took them away for a while to get some shots of just the two of them which they were naturals at though I’m sure they’d disagree!
Soon it was time for everyone to be seated for the wedding breakfast, and Amy & John were announced to huge applause. Speeches were after the meal and had everyone in stitches. The sun was fading as the speeches ended so I took my chance to get Amy & John out for a few more photos in the fields behind the barn where I’d spotted a patch of blackthorn blossom.
As the sun went down it was time for the cake cutting and Amy & John’s first dance. A few quick spins and then the dance floor was crowded with people joining in.
Huge thanks you to Amy & John for trusting me to photograph their wedding at Woodstock Weddings, it was such a treat! Please do message me if you’re planning your own wedding at Woodstock and are looking for a photographer!
